Earth’s efforts to trade for monster cores are fraying, with the multinational collaboration falling apart before it even got going and the lead researchers forced to flee to Erryn’s world. Trying to hide the Law from them until Erryn completes her healing would be a monumental task, but so is the potential disaster that would result in Earth finding out how easily exploitable Erryn’s world really is.

Even if Peter successfully hides it from them, it’s still only a matter of time before Earth notices their own infected children. It’s likewise only a matter of time before those who splintered from the collaboration produce their own portals, and use them towards their own designs on Erryn’s world. As a race erupts between those trying to protect Erryn’s world from unsolicited portals and those trying to exploit them, the one who kicked off the portal research in the first place finally makes his move.

This author writes solid morally ambiguous endings, although I have my qualms. IMO, Peter didn't come off as wishy-washy until the last book, even though his reluctance to make clear decisions was a key part of how the ending turned out.

This book features some very lovely dragons and some very unlovely people.

Amazing Book

With a mix of Complex characteristics each with their own flaws, we see a world as decay yet flourish, as changes unseen act in this final installment.

Kinda an anticlimactic end. The suspense was building and then all of a sudden every wraps up cleanly. Earth and the Law, the visitors and Law, and everything suddenly stop being a problem
