I checked this book out from the public library for A and I to read. I thought it would be perfect for her as it seems she never wants to sleep. It just felt random. Certain pictures seemed kind of scary looking (for example the doctor). It seemed like all this was going on in the day time so of course what kid would want to go to bed or even be tired. I could probably go on and on but this book was just not for us.

Relatable content - “Why do I have to go to bed when I’m not tired, and get up when I am?”

This is my life with my now 6 year old. She never wants to go to bed at night, but doesn't want to wake up either....because she's too tired! She definitely identified with the protagonist, but now she's taking ideas from it, asking for a glass of water when we're all set.

As for the book itself, it is just OK and too random. Some scenes appear out of context and it appears the story happens during daytime...which would perfectly explain why the little princess does not want to go to bed.

I got this book by accident when I was trying to get another book with the same title.
I found it somewhat annoying. It's about a "princess" who doesn't want to go to bed.

Maybe I just didn't like the fact that she complained of not wanting to go to sleep when she wasn't tired, and having to wake up when she was tired? When my son wakes up in the morning, he's not tired! He's AWAKE as awake can be. Plus, it just didn't seem like her parents really addressed any of her concerns to me (like when the girl didn't like the big hairy spider over her bed - the queen lifted the King's pant leg and showed that he had hairy legs and he was nice, and that's actually the example I liked the most!), it was just a weird book. The girl wanted water, then her stuffed animal wanted water. The girl was afraid of monsters, then the stuffed animal was afraid of monsters... maybe I was reading way too much into the book, but it made it seem like the girl was just complaining about crap in order to avoid bedtime and that she didn't really care about any of it. In the end, she ends up sleeping in the cat's bed with the cat and her stuffed animal... and then in the morning when she wakes up, she's tired, so she goes to bed. Weird.

Raamat, mida avades on täpselt selge milleks ta mõeldud on. Hea raamat lapse esimeseks raamatuks, sest igal lehel on suur pilt ja natuke teksti ka sinna juurde.
