Holy Demon, Dommy Mommy! I had cackled a lot during this book ngl. She was trying to get an alpha wolf to submit?! Okay, ma'am. An alpha slowly bending to her will love it!
Mariax, the demoness running away from a mysterious daddy, actually intrigued me. The dynamic between all characters worked since they had different characteristics. We had to explore different worlds.
One that is like hell, and we also have something in our world, and I am hoping we get to expand other worlds too. If you are a dark romance lover, you will surely catch a lot of references.
Please know that there are a lot of schmink scenes, and who knows, it will add to your list. So check TW/CW and read responsibly! You will never run out of spice. That I will promise you.

When I tell you this book delivered, it DELIVERED. It had everything a reader like me could hope for! Romance, smut, plot, and a ton of kinks! This is definitely a book that you want to read all trigger warnings for to make sure it's what you're into!
The cover is stunning and the book itself was just as good! The plot itself didn't hook me right away, but it picked up at about 30-40% for me, After that I was hooked and couldn't put the book down until I got to the end. The characters were all really enjoyable to read about, and their growth throughout the book was written really well! While there was some repetitiveness that felt like it dragged on throughout the book, the majority of it was really fast paced, making this an extremely easy read for me!
While this is book one, and there's more to come, I can for certain say that it was so good and feels like it's really fleshed out as a whole, which makes me extremely excited for the next book in the series!

What I wanted to like:

What I end up hating:
- story dumping
- random time skips
- FMC who tries to pretend to be strong but is not doing great work
- FMC being a dom only because of her trauma
- this almost "he should not be named" character who we were introduced to and were supposed to hate but in fact he is the 3rd part of this relationship
- extensive and boring flashback to FMC past, in my opinion randomly placed
- no real back story for any of the characters
- no real personality in any of characters
- insta love/lust and still waiting a year to do something about it
- I felt like Mariax (FMC) forced Hunter (MMC) to be her sub. He didn't want to do that.
- BDSM scenes that felt dirty and nothing like they were supposed to be (consensual and for pleasure - Mariax words)

I felt that the characters all complimented each other nicely, they all had their own individual quirks and attributes that made them interesting in their own ways. Mostly, I enjoyed seeing Mariax struggle with whether she was predominantly a submissive or a dominant in the bedroom. And her dildo tail. I feel like that could be fun. Also, Hunter and his knot. I cannot visualise the knot. Kind of upset he never let Mariax have the knot. I needed to know more about this mysterious appendage.
The book ended on such a cliffhanger! I now need to wait in suspense for the second instalment so I can find out what the hell happened to Ian. Dying over here.
If you like to read about dominatrix demons and confused knotted werewolves and daddy djinns then this is the book for you. Enjoy😈

Ugh I was so excited about Mistress of Souls; bring on the spice! But it reads like poorly written fan fiction and it barely has any plot or character development. It's just porn and not particularly well written porn. I preface this with the fact that I find most things that the Internet says are spicy about as spicy as tapioca. This delivers on the spice, but that’s pretty much all it delivers on and the spice is not particularly well written.
Mariax is supposed to be a professional dominatrix, but is particularly bad at her job. There’s nothing safe, sane or consensual about some of the stuff happening in this book. Bad BDSM practices in fiction don’t always bother me because they’re a fantasy, but when you make the main character a professional dominatrix, hopefully you’ve done some research into what that means.
Mariax is such a Mary Sue it’s painful. The only character with any personality is Hunter but we’re just supposed to buy into his love story with little to no development in the relationships. The author basically skips over any kind of character building or relationship building in order to get to the sex scenes which means I just wasn’t invested in any of them. Plus the other love interest is an abusive piece of trash who treats waitstaff poorly. That’s not being dominant that’s just being shitty.
Also, the author makes a big deal about Hunter being polyamorous and a partner betraying that he wants to be polyamorous to people he doesn’t trust. But Hunter is bad at polyamory. There’s no communication there’s no honesty. Hunter’s ultimate goal is to be in a triad. Does communicate this to any of his partners? No.
I don’t even want to talk about the third character beyond what I’ve already mentioned, but I don’t feel like this review would be complete without it. Partially because they talk about what a bad Dom he is and that is why Mariax is so good at her job (which she isn’t) because she learned what not to do from the abusive relationship she was in with him. And guess what? He is one of the people we’re supposed to be rooting for. When he reenters her life, at one point, she mentions that she’s finally seeing who he truly is but they’ve only been back in each others life for a couple weeks and it’s been previously established that they were together for centuries and she’s only now realizing who he is? Yeah that’s not how that works.
Altogether, this is a poorly researched sexual fantasy that reads like the forced plot of a cheap porno. The plot (what little there is) and characters only exist to get us from sex scene to sex scene.
Weird pet peeve: The author kept name dropping other romance authors and books. It was weird and annoying. It was like an ad in the middle of a book.

Holy hot demon femdom😵
You guys, this is the author’s debut book.. and it was so fucking good!! The world building, and the characters, both main and side characters, were so well fleshed out and you really just felt transported throughout the entire time you’re reading the book.
Mariax was such a badass, and had such drive and absolute confidence in herself and in her body. And she can do magic things with her tail 😉 which just added the cherry on top to her as a whole.
Hunter and Ian.. whoa. Both so dominant, and both so different from each other. Yet both so similar in their need for each other’s presence and Mariax’s as well.
I’m honestly so excited to see their relationships, both as a throuple and individually, develop further in the next book!
There were just a couple things that knocked a star off for me, but didn’t deter my overall enjoyment of the book. One thing was a couple of the characters feelings and scents were overly explained, making it a little repetitive. But it wasn’t bad, just enough that I picked up on it. And the second thing was, I kind of lost the plot at some point during the halfway to sixty percent mark.. but I do think it’ll develop more in the second book, so like I said, didn’t hurt my overall enjoyment.
This is book one, so it does end in a cliffhanger, but I do highly recommend this if you’re into dark monster romances that you can just sit and escape into. 🥰♥️

Even in a safe and controlled environment, there will always be a significant risk. Please don’t let random authors tell you that the man who’s stalking you is really just cute and soooo in love with you.

Buckle up, this one is spicyyyyyyyyy! 🔥🔥🔥 it’s brutal and dark too- proceed with caution.
This book was so much fun to read! Mariax was created (not born, literally created in hell) to be a torture demon. She fled hell while running from her ex and she now runs a club (called The Snuggle Pit, lol) where she takes on her Mistress Mariax persona. She strikes up a unique relationship with the local lycan alpha and is having a great time with him, but she can’t shake the feeling that something is stalking her…
The spice is top notch in this book. Without spoiling anything, there are MF and MM scenes, and a splash of MFM. Lots of kink. The story is character-driven and mainly focuses on the relationships/history at this point but with the way this book ends, I can tell the plot will be kicked up a notch in book 2.
That ending!!! Beware of the cliff! I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 👀

Mariax is now claimed as my favourite book girlfriend.
There's a plot, there's romance and there's kinks. Check the trigger warnings before entering this realm. I really liked this book! The demon mommy who was running from her daddy was a plotline that kept me interested. Add to that an alpha wolf and I find myself having a hard time putting this book down.
I got into it because of the cover art (I mean look at it) and I stayed because of the story and spice. I can not wait to see how this story continues, because this cliff hanger really crept up on me! I was very pleased to find out this will be a duet. Let the count down to book 2 begin!

WHAT A DEBUT!
I’m calling it now. CM Hutton is the Magical Monster Smut BDSM GODDESS. I could not look away. The mix between pain and pleasure, the balance of torture and gratification, the EMOTIONAL TURMOIL and theme of working through past trauma. Everything about this book was phenomenally executed and I cannot believe this is her debut. Seems like she’s been doing this writing thing forever. 282882647382 stars. All the hype.

"Life is cr*el, but love is f*cking terrifying"

This was occasionally funny, extremely imaginative, and plenty smutty. 😂 I liked the writing, and the world-building could have used more explanation, but overall, the plot moved at a decent pace and it was really good, and I just loved how much detail this book has. 👌🏼The characters were likable and relatable. They each have their own personalities and react differently to things and you can tell that each character is their own. And that cover!! OMG. It's stunning 😍 I love it!
Overall, This was a really fun and entertaining read - exactly what I would hope for, from a story with d*mons and supernatural creatures. However, the ending sort of made my mouth drop, and I hope we have some further development in this area in the next book.

What is better than an alpha Scottish brogue man with allll sorts of tricks willing to submit? A badass FMC who isn’t afraid to step into her own. I also loved that we see vulnerability by all characters in this.
If I could do a half star I would! I loved this fun little steamy read. CM does a fantastic job at representation across the board, whether that be in the bdsm world or in sexuality in general. If you’re looking for an inclusive, spicy, sweet, maddening book, this is absolutely it. This made me feel all sorts of things from 🥵 to 🥺 and the vibes of the whole thing was wonderful. CM has done a great job at broadening the horizons of monster smut and dark romance for all readers. I can’t wait to read more.

I didn’t think I’d be as hooked on this as I was 🫣 I haven’t read much with a dominant woman, but I don’t think this book will be my last and I’m not just talking about completing this series (which I’m DEFINITELY doing)
That being said, I’m more Primeval, than Pup. So in the next book I’m hoping to see more of her subbie side with him&Hunter (I’m greedy like that) however, with the way this one ended, they might have bigger priorities first, but it’ll be worth the wait, the spice was hot 🔥
I have SOO many questions and no guesses of what’s to come and if that doesn’t make it an epic cliffhanger I don’t know what does.
Finishing off with a confession, I might be slightly obsessed with Mariax and her tail, it’s a character in itself and I’m looking forward reading more of what mischief it can get up to 😉
Overall I’m super excited for the next one, like REALLY excited (and I’m also excited for the cover because this one is 👌🏼👌🏼)

It’s not often that I give 5 stars but I LOVED this book. Magical monster smut is yummy. Honestly. If you love dirty, I mean dirty, filthy things… this is for you. Witty, humor, angst all in one package. Alpha boys, dom, and over protective men are my kinda thing. CM Hutton did NOT disappoint. I absolutely adore Mariax and her tail. You will understand once your read the book. {wink}

I’d like to thank the author for sending me an ARC ❤️ it was the first time for me and I was super excited! Even if she had to push back of a few days the publication, she did a great job with this book.
Now, the review (CONTAINS SPOILERS)
There are some major pros and some cons.
Pros:
- I liked the triple POV, it allows to better understand each situation.
- The sex scenes were well written and I enjoyed the wickedness of certain scenes 😈
- Mariax’s tail, it just fits in the book
- Hunter: I picture him as a big teddy bear, scary on the outside but super cuddly on the inside
- Ian is the morally grey character, a big broody bad boy
Cons:
- I did not like the quantity of time that passes from one chapter to another. I would have liked to get a taste of the first sessions between Mariax and Hunter.
- Everything is really fast paced, the book could have been 100 pages longer and explaining more scenes, and it would have been perfect.
- I didn’t fully understand the world the story is set. I get that they are in Philadelphia, but how do mortals and supernatural live together? It isn’t well described.
Nonetheless, I really liked the book and cannot wait for the sequel 😍
Plus, that ending is unfair 😡 I want to know what happened!!

Seems like a classic case of “woman is only dominant because she’s traumatized.”
—-To me, it didn’t seem like she enjoyed dominating at all. She just did it to prove that she was strong. When she thought back to her days as a submissive, she seemed much more satisfied with that.
Even though she says the man she submitted to was abusive, it seemed like he was going to come back as a love interest in the book and nahhh.
Besides that, the lack of character building, the time jumps, the bloody and violent seggs. This was a miss for me.

She has a brilliant way of delving into the mind set of each character, so that as you read the book you feel like you are embodying that character, may that be an air of authority, boyish light and laughter to fierce bad bitch energy. It is also poignant to highlight she also delves into complex issues and situations such as anxiety, panic attacks and even PTSD.
I really enjoyed this book and with the undercurrent plot running through this book, I’m very intrigued to see how C.M. Hutton opens and expands on this world. It’s got some really great potential!

This has such a gorgeous book cover, which I love. And oh god, the dedication note 😂
This is a dark, paranormal, spicy, why choose romance.
I really did enjoy a lot of this book, and the characters were well written. This PNR follows Mariax, Hunter, and Ian.
The story building, FMC, and other characters were all good. I would have liked to know a bit more about the world around them, how the paranormal interact with humans, etc. Just a bit more about the world outside their bubble. And I didn't really like Ian if I'm honest. Hopefully, there is some redemption in the next book.
Oh, and a bit of a pedantic point, but im really not a fan of talking about real-life books, authors. I think it happened at least 5 times. It just pulls me out the moment and back to reality...
Overall, this was a really good read, and i will read the next book.

I am was throughly team hunter the whole book until like the end. Seeing Ian's memories ... like ok swoon. You big daddy beast.
Lots of smut but a storyline. I need to read book two and hope daddy is ok.
They haven't even became the official throuple yet and I need that scene in my life lol.
Sometimes the story kinda jumped over the places like had an abrupt stop and you went to a new scene with no explanation and my mind already overanalyze so I'm like wait what. Tell me what she says. so one of the few things that kept my 5 star star rating that close but not quite.
I can just tell book 2 will get it there, getting to the heart of the story. I loved the world building and backstory book one has brought though.
(Also I love mariax. She's a sexy little badass)

One hundred percent recommend this book. If you love Dom/Sub, this is it. The author does a great job of describing some of the characteristics of that relationship. (I am no expert, just what I image the life would be like.)

Dark fantasy romance. Please read your trigger warnings. I received this as an arc read, and it had me in an absolute chokehold. We are following a female demon as she runs her dungeon the snuggle pit. She’s a female dominant who treats her submissive’s the way she wished she was treated when she was a submissive. This book has spice, a little bit of mystery, I am an all of the other wonderful combinations to make a great read. The FmC is strong, confident, but still has her own demons to conquer. We watch as the FMC recovers from a long-term relationship. This long-term relationship was very unique in itself so she is taking a unique way of healing. By showing the care to her submissive is that she was denied by her first Dom. Also, lately she has felt a presence hunting her. Is her past coming to get her or is this a new danger? She hadn’t face before. This is the first in a trilogy. I cannot wait for the next book. The next book will be released fall 2023.

3,5 porque me han faltado cosas importantes para mí... tiene 3 pov y eso es clave. Los flashbacks, la historia de Inferuna, todo el tema del club que regenta Mariax... no tengo quejas en nada de eso. Ni la subtrama (que se hace principal al final) del villano común.
PERO: hay unos saltos temporales entre ella y Hunter que te deja descolocada. Me ha faltado info ahí que sustente la relación que forjan durante + de un año. Siento que no me lo creo porque no he vivido momentos suficientes que los unan. Y ya entre Ian y Hunter... es que esa info es nula. Directamente te venden una relación de la nada. Eso me ha sacado mucho de la historia.
Final que me esperaba (aunque creía que desaparecería ella). Y me ha dejado con ganas de los 3 juntos🔥
A pesar de lo negativo, es de mis autoras favs. Los guiños a otras autoras a través de la prota me han encantado. Y creo que se viene un 2º muy top. Lo quiero ya!!!
