This book was written by the mother of the family who acquired the beautiful boat "Chauve Souris" back in the mid 50's. We got to know them when they visited Menemsha on Martha's Vineyard in the summer of 1955. It was the year of hurricane Carol and they were anchored in the harbor when the storm hit. It was a bad 'un but their boat did not sink. Many did. After the storm Alfred Eisenstadt took a picture(one among many) of my little sister and me walking along the wreckage on the dock. Date read is a guess.
