Sweet little treats offered up in the spirit of the season, a collection of shorts that explore the magic of the holidays, the magic of winter, venturing into territory familiar and new, contemporary and fantastical. Quick little bites that are sweet, fun, and never go stale.
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
I read the first 4 or 5 stories and they are only about 3 pages each! I had to stop reading because it was frustrating me. I went to a Prince concert once and I love Prince. He has so many amazing songs. So many great songs that he ended up playing a medley. Each song played for about 4 lines and just when I was getting into it, the song would change.
Little Red Corvette, baby you're much too fast *oh! I love this song!* Little red Corvette You need a love that's gonna last *singing along!*
I never meant to cause you any sorrow *what? oh, yeah, this song is good too* I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted one time to see you laughing I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain *yeah! Purple Rain!*
Puuurple Raiiiin, Purple Rain! *singing along!*
She wore a Raaaaasberry Beret! *aw, come on! finish one damn song!*
That was the problem with the concert and with this book. Everything is really great and cute but it's just a little snippet. Not even an appetizer, more like a tiny morsel or crumb. I might get back to this at some point. Maybe if I'm in a schizo mood. Or have a bout of ADD.
Have I mentioned I love anthologies? :) This was lovely! I thought it was going to be just three stories because I saw three authors but there were so many! It was wonderful! I love the theme of holiday treats; each story had some kind of treat, LOVED IT.
The only bad thing was that now I ended up adding books to my TBR pile...LOL. ;)
While I liked the variety, and amount of stories, in this collection this book would be better read in the couple of minute breaks people usually have in between doing other things. Each story is only a couple of pages long and after a while I got a little dissatisfied with never getting to read anything in depth. I mean, its not horrible having a story that kind of ends when it feels like things are actually just getting started but every story basically ended with the couple coming together, most often with their first kiss. I did really enjoy getting to see some of my favorite characters come back for an extra little story here but I'm going to have to go find something else to read that lends itself to a little more satisfaction now. :P
A wonderfully written collection of vignettes, some set in 'verses I was happy to revisit. As always, reading a book of good shorts is a good way to find new favorite authors
