David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”)

David published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996; the feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 52 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. David has also published seven novels for younger readers. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 200 million copies sold worldwide.

In addition to being a prolific writer, David is a devoted philanthropist, and his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®. Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family and adult literacy programs in the United States.

A lifelong Virginian, David is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia School of Law.

I would recommend this book to my friend named Jordan.C because he likes science and there are inventions. This book is about that they are trying to find Finkle Bean so they can see his best invention created and then when they found him he said he been waiting and he said can you help me go back to my time and Freddy said okay. This book is great because Finkle Bean inventions are great.

One of the best booksI haveread so far.I hadnever read a sci-fi book before and so i was hesitant. The plot is in bounds andis possible in real world except a thing or two.The plot of the story is well thought of and researched. This is a book with a unique plot.

Having finished a David Baldacci book, I checked out his website and found this kids' book. It's a cute book that my students will like...an annoying sibling, weird parent, bullies and gaseous incidents.

I debated on how to rate this, because I myself did not really enjoy it. (Note: I'm much older than the target audience for this book). But I could see my nephew enjoying it when he was a bit younger than he is now.

Freddy's family owns Burger Castle (which despite the name, serves healthy food). The restaurant is failing so Freddy has a plan to win the float contest to get publicity for their establishment. Freddy's father was once an inventor/scientist and Freddy wants to follow in his footsteps. Freddy gets an idea to create the Fries and a lightning bolt brings them to life.

Adults: Be aware it's silly and sometimes illogical. It's one Baldacci series I'll be skipping.

Freddy and the French Fries Science fiction by David Baldacci was the best book I ever read from David Baldacci. My favorite part was when he dreamed that he would win the Founders day parade and gets vary big and fights with Adam. I liked that part because I like that he has hopes and courage. I recommend this ''awesome''!!!! book because it's funny plus has crazy characters.

David Baldacci is one of my favorite authors. His hard-hitting adventures are powerfully written with forceful dialog and fast-moving plots. But the author needs to stay in his lane. This attempt at a novel for young readers is not very good. I had a hard time visualizing his descriptions of the "Fries" and their activities.

David Baldacci, who normally writes thrillers tries our fiction for younger people in a story that is reminiscent of some of Alexander McCall Smith's books for younger people - although it is not as good and typically of Baldacci more verbose.

This was a fun children’s book. It’s full of fantasy – french fries who come alive and save the day along with their inventor Freddy

Freddy and his family are trying to win the float contest so they can support their family restaurant called The Burger Castle. Their competing restaurant, The Patty Cake, has won over the past years.
Freddy has the idea to use special potatoes and nanotechnology to create animated fries for their float. A bully named Adam and his gang trashed The Burger Castle. Freddy and his friend Howie go through many crazy adventures with the fries. Will they win this years float contest,or will The Patty Cake restaurant win again? I can't wait to read the second book.

So now I can say I've read his kids novel writing his suspense, his non suspense, and soon his YA book. Baldacci is a genius writer. This is such a cute and fun book for elementary ages kids. But I read it cause I love Baldacci's writing and my all time favorite author. But if you have kids maybe 4-6th grade or so they may like this. Or maybe grades 2-4. But overall it was a cute book

David Baldacci is having fun exploring new writing styles!
This is the first in a series.
The geeky son of a geeky Dad uses scientific inventions in an attempt to beat the meanest family in town over the hometown parade float.
He uses fun character names, odd personalities, and crazy consequences to keep the story going.
It should appeal especially to 3rd grade boys.

No reading level information available. The author recommends it for ages 4-8.

Freddy Funkhouser wants to create a float for his dad's burger restaurant that will beat the Spanker family's float in the local parade. He uses nanotechnology to create life-like french fries to place on the float. The fries come "alive" and cause chaos in the town.

This book is great for grades 2-3.

I laughed and laughed and laughed. This is obviously a book that Baldacci told his kids. It had plenty of "kid humor" and was just "kid funny." I really enjoyed it and will recommend it to my kids. Everyone needs to read a book JUST FOR FUN every now and then!

I read this to see if it would be a good one to recommend to my 9-year old grandson. I think he would like it. It's very hard to rate one that's for young people, but I gave it 3.5 stars.
