Want to know what's in The Rock's Famous Rock Bottom Pancakes? What Chyna eats to make her the Ninth Wonder of the World? What dishes can make even Stone Cold Steve Austin smile? If you think you can handle it, you too can eat like a World Wrestling Federation Superstar. In this hardcore cookbook, the Superstars of the World Wrestling Federation serve up their favorite meals ... with a whole lot of "Attitude." And to make it even better, each mouthwatering recipe is introduced by good ol' J.R., who offers the behind-the-scenes "dish" on each meal and the wrestlers who love it, peppering the book with plenty of down-home Federation flavor. The beloved cookbook of wrestling fans, Can You Take the Heat? dishes up delicious, stick-to-your-ribs meals that will satisfy even the biggest appetites.
If you're a meat-eater and love those '90s-'00s wrestlers, this is a good cookbook. It is not a high-quality cookbook (no glossy pages or hi-res images), but the recipes are "normal" fare and the pairings of the recipes with wrestlers range from clever to straight up hilarious. I will likely never use this book to actually make a meal, but it was certainly entertaining.
Bought this after seeing Nigella Lawson showing it on one of her shows. Not disappointed at all. Because its quite old, it's all the wrestlers I used to watch when I was little, mixed with slightly newer ones:)
The guacamole from Chyna's Guacamole Salad has been my go-to guacamole recipe for a decade now. I bought this cookbook when I was in college because I figured it was a good "starter" cookbook, which it is. Some of the recipes are generic - I saw Mean Street Posse Potpie on the side of a Bisquick box - but again, this is a place to start. I do like the Acolytes' Beer Bread, and Mark Henry's Sexual Chocolate Cake was popular with my friends when I learned to make it in college.
This book is old enough it's the WWE when it was still called the WWF. Someone just took simple standard recipes, and gave them names that fit with the persona of different WWE Superstars. Like The Rock's Famous Rock-Bottom Pancakes or Mick Foley's Knuckle Sandwiches. There are a few decent recipes included. Glad this was a library book and I didn't spend money on it.
this is a great cookbook....and i don't even like wrestling! i just bought it out of the bargain bin at umd one day because dan was sooooooo in to wrestling at the time.....the countryfried and scampi recipes are used regularly....and yes.....dan still watches wrestling.....
