Not very surprising, this book is so far the best reading experience I've had for all my history courses at GW (Lenin's Tomb the second). This book is so good that I even feel a chill reading it in such a warm spring day. A must read for those interested in not only American nuclear project, but also nuclear as a moral and geopolitical issue and all those sophisticated minds behind. Real drama in real history.

This is an excellent book written for historians. It is not for the casual reader. I own it and got about 30% thru before I just could not bear to read any more.

If you want to read about Conant, the book about him by his granddaughter Jennet Conant is superb, as are all of her other books I have read.
