This is one of those books on an interesting subject in that it attempts to link two fields that some would be uncomfortable trying to connect. Being two parts researched history and one part theory, this books ends up being true speculation on the connection between quantum physics theories and the paranormal.
The first part is concerned with the history of paranormal phenomena. Contained in this portion is a rote history of UFOs, psychic phenomna, etc. Though it is nice to have some background information, there really is no reason the readers needs details about specific events such as Roswell, Project Blue Book, or specific disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. This could have been much shorter and succinct.
The second portion of the book is much the same as the first, but with a focus on physics. It involves the history and development of physics from relative physics to the present day research into quantum physics. Though more interesting and more coherent, the history here really isn't necessary here, either, though the presentation of different quantum theories is relevant and very interesting.
The third section is the meat of the book and what you're presumably been waiting for. The connection between quantum physics and paranormal phenomena. Of course, this is all speculation, but it is laid out very nicely. There is even mention of spiritual practices at the very end of this section which touches on some personal experiences of the author and briefly introduces concepts that will be interesting to see if they bear out with more research. The focus of this section seems to be on the possibility of other dimensions and how they may be tapped to produce paranormal phenomena. It is disappointing that one of the main theories regarding ghosts isn't even introduced (the recording of events into the fabric of stone which offer up replays of the past) and that it seems the only possibility considered is that ghosts are conscious, living beings from another dimension who may or may not interact with us. If this were true, then why do we not see ghosts from the future? Is that what some UFOs and aliens are? This would touch off a difficult debate as to whether or not the future is set and so may have been avoided on purpose.
All in all, if you have a passable knowledge of paranormal phenomena, you can skim the first section. The same can be said of the first portion of the second section, but read about current quantum theory and the entirety of the third section. After all, that last quarter of the book is what you're looking forward to. Some interesting questions are raised and possibilities are discussed, but if you're looking for solid evidence of what is really going on, you won't find it here. Those conclusions simply haven't been arrived at yet, but you will be able to leave with a decent familiarity of what quantum physicists are looking at right now.
