As the world becomes ever more impersonal, hectic, and stressful, our hunger grows for the reality of God’s greatness in our lives. We seek moments of personal worship and praise to God...we desire His awesome presence. Now Jerry Bridges, one of this generation’s most influential and personal Christian writers, guides you into God’s throne room for an intensely personal time of worship. You’ll exalt God for...
• His Greatness...beyond measure, beyond compare • His Holiness...transcendent majesty • His Wisdom...skill and splendor on display • His Love...the infinite love of an amazing Father for His child
Along with clear, compelling, biblical teaching on these four aspects of God’s nature, I Exalt You, O God includes a generous scattering of prayers that will guide your heart into reverent praise and thanksgiving. As a result, you’ll come away with a fresh and deeper desire to fall before God’s presence with heartfelt praise for the vastness and the wonder of His greatness, His holiness, His wisdom, and His love.

This is a devotional type book with readings for 31 days. However it is not your typical devotional as It is rich in the majesty of our Lord. My husband reads to me each evening before bed and reading this was a wonderful way to center on our Lord prior to sleep.
This is a beautiful devotional book. It is a wonderful book to read before falling asleep at night. Jerry Bridges had an unusual knack for writing about profound truths in a simple manner (if Elisabeth Elliot had a twin brother :)). The meditations are divided up by four of God’s attributes: his holiness, greatness, wisdom and love.
This book presents four main elements or reasons for worshiping God--for His greatness, for His holiness, for His wisdom, and for His love. Each of these parts divides into sections, or "days," going more into depth on each attribute. I really appreciate how many Bible verses there were throughout, and how they were applied. After the initial introduction about worship and the way we are to worship every day, each section ended in a prayer taking many thoughts and quotes from the Bible. There were also quotes from other authors such as MacArthur, Charnock, Calvin, and more. The last part, on God's love, reminded me of the total grace of God shown through His Son, something I needed to hear, and often do. It's not enough just to think of God's love in a vague way, but to read the verses of His unmerited, unchanging grace and love is highly important. To be reminded that we are full of sin and all made from the same clay was what the Lord used in my heart when I read it. This is a good devotional book I think I may pick up again and again. Though it may not go into as much depth as the old Puritan writers, it is clear and concise and helpful.
A wonderful treatise on the grandeur of God. Bridges walks us through various attributes of God that require a response of humility, reverence and amazement. Showing not only the attributes, but why they are important to us as followers of God. If you have lost the wonder of God, this book will point you back to it.
What a fantastic devotional. With one month’s worth of readings, the Author shows just how awesome, beyond our comprehension God truely is. He focuses on Gods greatness, holiness, wisdom and love. I love reading anything by Jerry Bridges, his style is easy to read but full of gospel truth. I was reminded of the way Tozer takes such care in how he writes about God’s attributes. I will come back to this again for sure.
This is a beautifully written bookd about worship, our personal worship, of God and Jesus Christ. It is written with wisdom, sensitivity, end it is well grounded in scripture throughout the entire Bible.
I used I Exalt You O God as a daily devotional. I reflected a lot on the topics of God's greatness. I particularly enjoyed the prayers at the end of each reading.
Every believer should trust and fear the TRUE and LIVING GOD!! This book provides Holy Scriptures to lead and teach you to reverently approach our CREATOR!
We are to worship God in the way we live, this is the public part of our faith. But there is a personal worship we are called to and it this private worship that is explored in the 31 devotions in I Exalt You, O God.
In his book Bridges makes clear that we must come to God through Christ and open to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He gives suggestions from his own private worship, and from the practices of others, to help the reader in their time of worship.
The four parts of the book explore; His greatness, His holiness, His wisdom, and His love. When we begin to understand these four attributes of God then we can begin to truly worship Him more fully and in the way that glorifies Him as He is meant to be.
Each reading has a bible passage, with commentary and personal reflections by Bridges, followed by scripture guided prayer. The readings are fairly short and concise that bring your focus to God then the prayer which is where, in my opinion, we find the real substance of the teaching and how to worship.
To begin, and continue, a practice of private worship takes time, commitment, and perseverance. A good starting place is this book, I Exalt You, O God.
This book was sent to me (as an e-book) by WaterBrook Multnomah free of charge in exchange for this review.

The book is divided into four sections to direct the reader's focus to worshipping God for His Greatness, Holiness, Wisdom, and Love. I read through this encouraging devotional for the review and intend to go back and daily meditate on God's word for worship. I Exalt You O God is a helpful devotional aid. the Lord. The section that will become one of my favorites is the prayers of Scripture verses that flow together to help you learn to make your prayers worshipful in praising God for who He is. I received this EBook from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing in their Blogging for Books program for this review.
Excellent book! A gift from Mary and Ernie Voss during my recovery from breast cancer. I used some of the material from this book at my women's retreat Nov 08.
