Toffee Apple: Must Do Better In Love

Rate this book
Travel Memoir meets Chicklit Comedy 35 years old, never had a relationship with a guy. 'Could it be I'm gay?'
Please. This humorous memoir is about personal growth and self-acceptance. In her journey, Mica realises she has been avoiding some pretty big issues by distracting herself with some very fun international relocations! From Australia to London, to Nice in the South of France, and back to Australia, Mica takes the long route to inner peace. Australian-born to a Central American mother and a British father, Mica has inherited her mother's fear of men. She stumbles into adulthood without getting into a proper romantic relationship, and eventually wonders if she might be gay. So she gets into a gay relationship, then decides she isn't. The problem is she doesn't know how to backtrack because she's selfish, immature, emotionally-underdeveloped, relationship-challenged, call it what you will, and she likes the new feeling of having someone look out for her. She tries to walk the ridiculous line of having what she wants, but not giving what is needed. Aaaah! When is she going to get out of her own way, and get her man? How hard can it be, right!
What are they saying about this memoir?
'The main character goes on a journey of increased self-awareness, attempted self-improvement and arrives somewhat gloriously at self-acceptance, in the most unexpected and hilarious manner. Honestly, I could not have been happier with how the book ended!' 'Great for an imaginary trip to the south of France if you can’t get there at the moment! Muddy Frank provides fabulously real and sensory descriptions of locations in England, France and Australia, so expect to be transported in time and place.' 'Be warned – reading will make you crave a French red wine and thin crust pizza…'

Muddy Frank is an Australian author. She writes humorous children's chapter books.

Muddy lives in a ski resort in France.

'I see the Mt Blanc from my balcony every day. I love it because I grew up in Australia by the beach, so this is so different. I like the food that comes with the alps lifestyle; the fondue, the steaks, the mulled wine. Before France, I lived in the UK. Love the London markets. I also lived in Spain. Love the jamon iberico. I'm a fan of the south of France too, can't get enough of the colour of the mediterranean sea. Anyway..., I travel, I observe and I stash away ideas in my head, and then I sit in my mountain pad, and I write.'
