A very good children's book about the great migration. While the father of Lucy was a bit frustrating as a parent, and Lucy was rather mean towards Prudence, this was beautiful with lovely artwork and a good story. 4 ⭐.
Was going over the Oregon Trail with my children for a few days and this was a good introduction to it. Lucy was part of the first set of wagon trains that wen to Oregon from Independence, Missouri. Lucy has a little puppy that gets into trouble. Her dad is so concerned about her pregnant mother, that Lucy seems to be yelled at by her dad all the time, and she is just doing her best to live her life on the road. 2.5 stars, because this should have been a little bit longer. It was good though!
Another homeschool read. It was very basic (purposely for a young audience), but maybe too young for us. Also, the dad in the story was ridiculously unsympathetic. Not our favorite.
A cute book about life on the Oregon Trail. I'm not sure why one reviewer said that it was sad - maybe there was another version of the book at one point? I read the 1987 version. It wasn't sad at all (although there were moments where you worried about Lucy and/or her puppy).
