**I received this ARC from the author but that did not influence the review**

Celeste’s review: I was so excited to start this as soon as I finished the first book, Beautifully Broken. Shiloh Ravenwolf has always known she is a witch. In fact, she comes from a long line of witches and is the 13th daughter, which means she is there to fulfill a prophecy. Her duty is to protect the innocents from all the paranormal activity going on in the town of Whispering Pines, since there is an entrance to Sheol there. In this installment of the series Shiloh now understands her ability more as a witch/demon hunter and is able to work on fine tuning her skills. While the first book dealt with ghosts and demons, this book deals with more supernatural demon beings…..lycans, zombies and oh, so much more!

But the supernatural beings aren’t the only demons in Whispering Pines she is fighting. Shiloh also has to deal with the demon blood within her, the poison that tries to take control over her white magick. Luckily she has Trent’s uncle, Evans, as her mentor. Not only as her mentor, but as a friend too. After the tragic murder she needs all the support she can get. And then there’s her boyfriend….he now seems to have something going on too that definitely has a demon vibe. I have to say, I really like how it all played out. I wasn’t sure exactly what Trent knew or if he was hiding something, or he was truly unaware.

Which now brings me to Trent. Le sigh. I spent the first quarter of the book blowing through the pages saying where is Trent!?! But he finally got back into the picture. Phew. Shiloh has Evans to help train with magick, and now Trent to train with combat fighting. Let’s just say I love the training. Rawr. *looks to author with puppy eyes for a deleted sweaty romantic scene from that???*. Once Trent and Shiloh accepted their feelings they make an outstanding couple and demon fighting team-I loved them!

While I really enjoyed the book there were still a few items I struggled with:

*How could Shiloh forgive or even stand to be in the same room as her mother? Maybe she honestly had no choice so she just made peace with it?
*The romance. While it was very believable I needed more sizzle because as I said in first review Trent = pure sex. What happened to the bad boy that wants to score? Maybe he just matured because of the tragic events?
*The ending had too many loose ends. Nothing really felt wrapped up except for the alpha being stopped. Maybe. However, there’s a 3rd book so maybe I will get more answers there.
*There started to be too many paranormal beings. I enjoyed just focusing on the lycans. The zombies, necromancers and Raze seemed unneccesary. Maybe I just need more answers. There is still a lot of potential. If the 3rd book focuses on Raze I think it will work, otherwise his character didn’t have any value in this book.

Will I read the next one? Absolutely positively! I need to find out what happens. Ms. Soule has a fabulous way of story telling and I can’t wait to see how she ties it all up. The 3rd book in this Spellbound series, Destiny Disrupted, is due out in September 2012.

E-ARC: Moonlight Mayhem by Sherry Soule
(Beautifully Broken #2)
Pages: 317
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Source: Sent from author

Short Synopsis: Whispering Pines gets even stranger, when the high school's football team starts acting up more than usual, and huge rabid wolves starts attacking innocent people.

My Thoughts: Another interesting paranormal read by Sherry Soule. Paranormal happenings at every turn of the page, you won't want to set it down.

They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn't even begin to describe Whispering Pines. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch's curse.
When sixteen-year-old Shiloh Ravenwolf takes a summer job at Ravenhurst Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That's where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan. But Trent may be the next victim on the supernatural hit list, and Shiloh is the only person with the power to save him. Complicated much?
After receiving cryptic messages from a creepy wraith, and then frightening threats from a demon, Shiloh finally begins to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist. Now Shiloh must decide how much she's willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.
Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance.
--From Amazon

Ever since Shiloh came to Whispering Pines, she's been bombarded with supernatural activities at every turn. Never a dull moment, as Shiloh tries her best to accommodate the situation and bring things back to normal. But in this super packed adventure, Shiloh is way in over her head, and needs the help of her friends, and anyone else who is willing to be her ally.
Shiloh is an independent, and determined witch that is faced with weird paranormal elements such as huge rabid wolves, innocent town deaths, and even a zombie is put in the mix as well. As Shiloh struggles with her personal life with her on and off again boyfriend Trent, she makes discoveries about who Trent's parents really are, and what Trent really is.
And after a horrible attack on someone she loves, Shiloh is determined to avenge her family, and those she loves. Aside from her own personal drama, the high school's football team has been acting even more rowdier than usual, and Shiloh and her friends think that it is paranormal related, and must get to the bottom of things before, someone else gets hurts.
Shiloh is a spunky, interesting, loyal character that will sacrifice her own well being, to save her friends and those she cares about. And though there are times where Shiloh feels like she's on the edge of insanity and wants to quit doing what she's destined to become, her friends and mentor are always there to bring her back to normal. Moonlight Mayhem is an action packed adventure, filled with creepy creatures, and interesting scenarios, and readers get to know more about the main characters and their past, and how each deal with certain situations. If you've read the first in the series, be sure to add Moonlight Mayhem to your list too.

Would I recommend this book: Yes

Rating: I give this book a 3.5/5.

My English review

I had a mix feeling about the first book and I was therefore anxious to start this one. I was afraid to have the same problems I had before once again… But what a surprise, this second novel is amazing. No, no more fights against demons, it’s this time more against zombies, lycans, fallen angels and so many other things.

Shiloh has to face Trent, her ex-boyfriend as they’re having a break but more than that she discovers some corpses of persons killed by a wild animal. Our heroine is very determined to discover the last word of the story and she won’t be alone in this adventure. Indeed, I was very surprised by this disparate assembly, but it was a real pleasure.

But there is more, Shiloh has to deal with the death of her father, himself murdered and she is determined to avenge him and to kill the person or the creature responsible for all this. But this story will lead her more farther than she would have thought. She, however, has to control her demon’s blood to not be controlled, and it’s really not an easy task.

I’m still intrigued by Jillian, the mother of our heroine. She can have some tender moments with her daughter as she tried to reach her but most of the time she is the evil bitch we knew. I wonder what she wants to do, what their motives are now and what is her relation with the father of Trent. What about Trent? Ah this boy has a lot of surprises for us and we learn them all along the book, I didn’t expect that and in the same time it’s logic as well. I can’t wait to assist to the confrontations about all the things we learned.

We meet many new characters, everyone is interesting and I hope we will meet them soon in another novel to get to know them more, mainly the Shiloh’s best friend. I have to say that finally all the persons in this small town have something special, and we just need to learn what it is now.

We have a great rhythm here and we never get bored, it allows us to learn the responsibilities that our heroine needs to deal with, everyday. A really good second book and I can’t wait to get into the third one to know what Sherry Soule will have for us.

More of my reviews @ www.obsessionwithbooks.blogspot.com

Moonlight Mayhem by Sherry Soule is the second book in the Spellbound series and was kindly provided to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.

Shiloh Ravenwolf is still trying to control the magical abilities she wields as a heritage witch - she can see auras and the echoes of souls which reveal a person or demons true nature and has been chosen by an ancient prophecy to defend Whispering Pines against evil.

The engrossing plot is definitely one of my favorite things about this book, Shiloh’s classmates are being targeted by a mysterious supernatural creature and her father has been murdered so rather than sit back and wallow she seeks vengeance but she is also fighting against an inner evil – the darkness of her demon blood. I absolutely loved her determination and her kick-butt go forward attitude and snark.

On-again, off-again boyfriend Trent was a surprise to me, the something ‘more’ about him was a nice spin and I enjoyed his persistence when it came to Shiloh. I loved the combat training scenes between them and their interactions are wonderful, I’m glad the romance picked up in this book.

Moonlight Mayhem has a great combination of all the paranormal creatures I have come to love and enjoy – a zombie, lycans and fallen angels and I am thinking we may have a Fae amongst them as well! Ms. Soule has written each character perfectly and I look forward to reading more about each of them, Shiloh has gained some great allies and friends.

The world-building and character developments were another thing I liked, we still get the creepy vibe in Moonlight Mayhem as we did in Beautifully Broken which made the story all the more mysterious, Whispering Pines is certainly a town filled with unbelievable secrets which I have enjoyed watching unravel.

Moonlight Mayhem is a book filled with action, intrigue and characters you can’t help but adore. Ms. Soule’s writing is engaging and the plot and pacing flowed well, there was never a dull moment.

There are a few loose ends which I am hoping we receive answers to in the final installment, Destiny Disrupted.

Thank-you to Sherry Soule for providing me with a copy of Moonlight Mayhem.

*May contain spoilers from previous book*

I received a copy from the author.

Shiloh Ravenwolf’s problems are far from over, but she’s the protector of Whispering Pines, a town that’s a hotspot for paranormal activity, and should expect them. She saves James McMillian, a guy on the varsity football team, when he stumbles into Luna Pizza, and appears to have been attacked.

Shiloh’s scar tingles and burns, which lets her know that whatever happened definitely involves something supernatural. When she starts to head to the Ravenhearst Manor with her best friend, Ariana, a big beast is in the road and they barely miss it.

The attacks increase, but seem to only target the football team. The local policeman claim that its rabid dogs, but her mentor Evans think it’s lycans that are attacking the team. When Shiloh becomes witness to an attack, she became high up on the supernatural hit list.
With all of these going on, Trent starts to become closer to Shiloh. When he becomes angry, his eyes turn black and this frightens Shiloh. She has been tainted with demon’s blood, and she thinks Trent has too.

Shiloh has many things to worry about, and has a guy with piercing eyes following her at odd times. She’ll have to team with the most unlikely people to help the town that she is prophesized to help
Lives will be lost for this cause. Will Shiloh solve the mystery behind all the attacks before it’s too late?

I liked this one more than the first book. I love all of the different paranormal creatures that are brought into this book, which makes this series have a slight Buffy-esque vibe to it. I had suspicions of what was happening. I was right on some things but not everything. I’m definitely interested to see what the new guys will play in the next book.

I definitely enjoyed Trent a lot more in this book than the others. I wished that Jillian, Shiloh’s mom, was more in the book. I don’t like her, but I want there to be some kind of closure with Shiloh even if it’s not good. There are so many things I’m still wondering about, but I love that the main aspects of the book are resolved before the next book starts. The ending isn’t too much of a cliffhanger, but I’m definitely intrigued to find out what happens next.

I received a copy for review

I'm a fan of Sherry Soule because of how captivating her story lines are.

She has these immense ideas that, if put successfully onto paper, will steal the reader's attention for hours. The difference between Moonlight Mayhem and Beautifully Broken is extreme.

Beautifully Broken, the first in the Spellbound series, has a protagonist, Shiloh, that was a bit too emotionally unattached. In Moonlight Mayhem, the sequel, Shiloh is too emotionally attached to her father's death, but barely mentions her other friends.

Moonlight Mayhem will make an entertaining read for readers. However, my focus was occasionally stolen by misused words. I did enjoy, however, how the characters surpassed the high school cliches to work together on the problem at hand.

Seeing as this is a sequel, there's not much I can say without causing huge spoilers. So, read at your own risk.

Would I recommend this book? Sure. The action is fast-paced and the emotional connection that Shiloh shares with her (still alive) best friend, Ari, is realistic. The story is riddled with creepiness and Soule strives to go beyond the cliches of the supernatural.

I received a copy of this from the author to read and review.

A good sequel to Spellbound. I liked that we were introduced to new characters while expanding on the characters we already know. There's more to see of our favorites: Shiloh, Trent, Ari, Evans. And there's new/newer characters who may or may not have dark secrets of their own.

It's pretty interesting in plot line. Something is definitely loose in Whispering Pines and causing massive amounts of trouble. I liked how that built through the story.

One thing I started to notice that I don't think I picked up on last time (or maybe wasn't present last time) was that Shiloh's not exactly clever. She's smart and observant, but she doesn't put the pieces together. There were things she noticed extremely early on in the story and yet she didn't realize they were clues until very near the end. I had the "bad guy" pegged really early on because of this. And I couldn't understand why she didn't see it.

The ending left almost more questions than answers. Now we have a couple of ungodly secretive characters that have revealed little more than their names that will likely play bigger roles in the future and a few open questions Shiloh spent parts of this book trying (and failing) to solve.

Still, more questions that answers usually brings readers back for the next book. Wonder what will happen there.

Demons plague her. Ghosts haunt her. Gossip follows her...and now a new enemy has found its way into Whispering Pines, threatening Shiloh and those she cares about.

Shiloh Ravenwolf is the Thirteenth Daughter - descendant of witches and part-time demon slayer, her Fate is no more clear now than it was before the secrets of her mother and the town's coven were revealed. Shiloh wants to shrug off the accidents around town as wild animal attacks, but something stops her. Her duty - to protect the people of Whispering Pines from danger.

But she can't do it alone.

With the help of her friends, they form Generation Hex to protect the town and get to the bottom of the new supernatural situation. But when someone close to her is killed, Shiloh's motives become less heroic and more revenge-tuned. Someone, or something, is on a killing spree and Shiloh will do anything to make them pay for what they have done.

Can she keep the Darkness under control?

Shiloh's 'darkness' that lurks within her, fuelling part of her powers, battles against the white magic she has inherited. Every time she's in danger, it threatens to overwhelm her and bring her over to the side of dark magic. Will she able to resist it? And if she has to make the choice between saving those she loves and succumbing to the dark, or letting them die, which will she choose?

Evil isn't so easy to unearth. And getting it wrong may just cost Shiloh everything.

Beneath the Moon and Stars review

I didn't like this as much as I liked the first. It had a very unique storyline. The storyline was probably my favorite part. I think I loved the first book way too much so I had too high expectations. It wasn't bad at all, in fact I enjoyed it a lot. I just didn't like it as much as the first.

I really love Shiloh. She has that snarky personality I love so much. But she had some moments during this where she annoyed me a little. Mostly while she was dealing with Trent. She was kinda mean to him in the beginning. One of the reason I loved the first so much was because Shiloh and Trent were so cute. I felt like there wasn't as much of that in this. I would have liked more cuteness but that's always the case with me. As for Trent I still adore him. I'm glad hes more than just human. I always felt like there was more to him. I loved that all the secondary characters played a bigger part.

This had a very suspenseful plot. There was a lot of action. I liked how it was a very different storyline than the first book. When I think of book one and book two I see a lot of differences and I really like that. You don't see that in most YA books. Overall I enjoyed this a lot. I can't wait to see more from this author and I highly recommend this series.

What can I say? I knew before I started this book that it would be great!
Before I started I was curious of the book title but now I definitively know. It really is a mayhem going on. You get new weird things happening and new characters that we are introduced to.
As the plot says Shiloh meets new allies and the people she allies with are soo unexpected! But I love it!
I must say that I at first thought that Sherry put to many different supernatural creatures in one book but as it progressed I ended up loving it. It would not be a good story otherwise.

Shiloh is so stongminded and when she wants something she makes it happen. I love how she doesn't care about what people thinks about her. If she want to dye her hair pink she does so without blinking.
I really felt sorry for Shiloh when her dad was killed and her sorrow was so great it could consume her. But she would not let it. Instead she turned to anger and vengance. Vengance is all she thinks about, but what happens when and if she finds it? That you will just have to see when you read it.

Trent, the all to lovely Trent! I love him too! I can´t really say much about him without spoilers so I will leave it at that =)

Having really enjoyed Beautifully Broken, Book I in Sherry Soule’s Spellbound Series, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read Book II as well. It started out rough for Shiloh, nothing new, and boy, once again, I loved the way she handled herself. I can say in all honesty, that this YA series so far is something that I would actually recommend to someone with teenage daughters, if you know what I mean. Great, strong, female character lead, and age appropriate content with quite the dark and paranormal edge to it. I think Sherry Soule has a great handle on what a paranormal YA series book should contain.

Honestly, I just love Shiloh. A great character. Strong and weak in all the right places. What she has to deal with is a lot, and she does so with the grace of a strong and big-hearted teen with special gifts.

The town, her friends, her enemies, are all portrayed well by Ms. Soule, written well, with a nice balance of description and action to keep a reader turning the pages. I look forward to more in this series. Oh, and can I say that I just love her book covers :)

There's a lot going on in this book. I can say this, because it doesn't give away anything that isn't in the blurb: There's a pack of wolves, a zombie, Shiloh and her mother are witches. Shiloh's father is killed, and the only person who's seen the wolves and hasn't been killed or turned is Shiloh. Oh, and add in fallen angels and Fae.

I can't decide if I liked the first or the second book in this series the best. There were great things about both, and little nit-picky things about each that I wish hadn't bugged me. (Seriously, I'm tired of werewolves.)

However, the storyline was great. Probably the best part of the book. Yes, the characters are well-rounded, "real" people. Yes, the setting is good. Yes, that spookiness carries over from the first book. But the storyline carried it. I wanted to know what would happen, even if/when I didn't particularly care about what the characters were doing.

This is a quick read, and if you enjoy paranormal books, you should really check out this series!

Wow! Now things are really getting exciting (and maybe a little terrifying) around Whispering Pines! I liked this book even better than the first one! Now that Shiloh has discovered her roots and began fighting against evil, the whole town seems to be teeming with dangerous and intriguing new creatures. I admit, I was a little worried after that ending in Beautifully Broken, but there is still plenty of adventure and romance for Shiloh. Not to mention we get to see a whole new side of the gorgeous Trent Donovan. I am definitely hooked on this series! Can’t wait for more!

Again Sherry has just Dded another great book to the Spellbound Series. Yes I'm addicted. I really can't help myself. This series has sucked me in and I can't wait to read the next one.
Although talk about cliffhangers. Every one of these series books has a serious one. Like want to smack the author upside the head. thankfully I started reading them after they were all televised or I'd be one unhappy person.
So book three here really has a lot of secrets come out. Even though I knew way back in book 1 what I suspected was true is. No I'm not telling , but it's a good one if you haven't figured it out.
So as for spoilers, I'm not giving many but here we go. Shiloh dad is killed and they keep saying "pack.of wild dogs" , well we all know it's Lycans. A whole other supernatural craziness comes to fallen oaks with this. Then the Raven that follows Shi and the older boy, as we call him showing up.freezing all the ppl at the funeral but Shi..yet again another cryptic message. The funeral turns to a fight between Luaren and Darrah Yes big secret you will find out .
Now Shiloh is attacked in the woods by the beast as I call it but saved by the older boy but this time he comes and has big black wings. So what us he? A Angel, a demon but out to help the thirteenth daughter? Why? He's not really mentioned after that incident..
As for Trent , yes finally she gives in . He's transferred to public school. Gets in a fight with Carter joins seriously shady and I think.is the boy head of the lycan but the coach I'm thinking is the real leader..as far as that goes he's out to kill Shi. Trent dies kick his butt talking trash about Shi. Very nice
But she sees the flash of lack again in his eyes . So what us Trent? We have no idea still.he's either g it some serious dark side or he is dark , like semi demon dark. I guess we will soon find out.
Anyways their finally together and with hmm dark or not I think they belong together. She's g it demon blood in her. I mean come on she can make fireballs not white light balls. So what's up? And her dad now dead and Darrah out and about with Maxwell all the time she's pretty much alone besides for Trent who doesn't seem to be around much anyways and Ari. Lauren was around a lot but she just kinda vanished too. So now we're at the town with a bunch of murders now that eseals gone and no more disappearing kids to gain anything for witches gone bad but we are over run with lycan and Shiloh on a mission full of vengeance. I don't though like how she keeps saying she's gonna kick some ass but when the time comes she's scared. She freezes. She's a witch denominated slacking on training wrenches so powerful she needs to just do it already.
Anyways back to cliffhanger. Yes it's ends with Danger in her and Trents face. The killer is there and what's gonna happen?
Is Shiloh gonna witch up, badass?is Trent gonna finally show up what's really up.
It's a 5 star again.
Not as many mistakes as I found in the first two books. Seems they've tightened up. Only a few towards the end. More forgotten words then anything. Definitely overlookable.
Read on its just getting better and better.

**Celeste received this ARC from the author
but that did not influence the review**

How could Shiloh forgive or even stand to be in the same room as her mother? Maybe she honestly had no choice so she just made peace with it?
The romance. While it was very believable I needed more sizzle because as I said in first review Trent = pure sex. What happened to the bad boy that wants to score? Maybe he just matured because of the tragic events?
The ending had too many loose ends. Nothing really felt wrapped up except for the alpha being stopped. Maybe. However, there’s a 3rd book so maybe I will get more answers there.
There started to be too many paranormal beings.

Another great book to a great series.

Werewolves. Zombies. Witches. Oh my!

This sequel packs a punch, that’s for sure! Soule holds nothing back as she thrusts readers back into Shiloh’s world, one full of even more mysteries than the first.

The title is quite revealing in the basic premise, werewolves. Except they aren’t.

Shiloh is trying to rebuild her life in Whispering Pines, but she soon finds herself in deep. She finds herself constantly holding “down” the evil inside her, screaming to get out. And while she is learning to control this element of her power, mysterious attacks keep occurring, specifically to the local high school football players. While the football players are being attacked, other locals are finding themselves mortal victims.

Spoilers

Moonlight Mayhem is the third book in the Spellbound Series by Sherry Soule. I read the series before it was revised. I am rereading them, now that they have been revamped, and it is like discovering a whole new story, with subplots accompanied with more character development. Moonlight Mayhem gives the opportunity to wrap yourself up in the characters. It is like returning to catch up with old friends. Soule has a gift for making you feel you are right there in the midst of the action. I truly enjoy books/authors that are able to accomplish that.

Shiloh: Her heart hurts in Moonlight Mayhem. She and Trent are taking a break although he doesn’t realize it is due to his lack of faith in her. Shiloh struggled a great deal with how to proceed with Trent. She needs him to believe in her. Until he does, she keeps him at arm’s length.

When Shiloh’s father is killed, she feels broken. She feels alone, abandoned. It is so unfair that she loses the one parent who believed in her. She desperately needs a purpose as his death is suspect. She finds it as she notices a raven shows up consistently. Shiloh feels something is watching, waiting……and she is intent on figuring out all about the 13th daughter prophecy. She finds out more family secrets.

The girl is into clothes but not enough to be annoying. Shiloh stands up to a few female bullies at school; It is one of her best moments in the book. I hate that crap and I am always happy to see a lead character step up for others. Her mom has left her alone as usual. This time around, Shiloh seems to be handling things well on her own.

Trent: He is not happy either. He misses Shiloh; He is determined to get back with her. He tries everything he can think of but she’s not having it. It takes him a while to figure out what Shiloh needs from him. His vulnerability is endearing. Once he understands and accepts Shiloh for who she is – the make-up scenes are too hot to handle! lol. I sighed in relief to have them both back on the same page. Of course, his French endearments are swoon-worthy. Trent transfers to Shiloh’s school to be closer.

They need one another. They are broken people who need each other. Shiloh truly learns about love through Trent. He accepts her for who she is; there is power in that. They are stronger together than apart.

I have to say this about Trent: get some better manners boy. You should not be outside honking for your girl. It is not cool!

After Shiloh’s father dies, Trent’s dad and Shiloh’s mom start dating. It is gross! They won’t even stop to make sure their own children are doing well. They are both incredibly selfish parents.

I noticed a couple of editing mistakes. I think every book has them. Overall, I have enjoyed this series immensely. Soule has the ability to make you feel invested in her characters. While reading Moonlight Mayhem, I am transported to their world. I am able to forget my troubles/reality. That is the sign of a good author.

Soundtrack song pick: Just Give Me A Reason Pink

Moonlight Mayhem appeals most to women and young adults.

Sherry Soule has continued the Spellbound Series in a page-turning fashion with book two! Moonlight Mayhem had me hooked – I cried, felt tension, suspense, and could not wait to read the end. In book two, Shiloh’s character really begins to grow and come into her own. Right at the beginning, her dad is killed and she vows to avenge his death. One of the most memorable scenes in this book is when she attends his funeral. It is written with such clarity and pain that I was there hurting with her. From this point on, Shiloh is vengeful and determined. I really felt her focus.

Shiloh spends a good portion of the book trying to figure out what’s going on in her town – but revenge is still at the forefront of her mind. Soule added a variety of characters in this sequel, such as lycans, zombies, and angels, which added depth to the story. At times, I was surprised that she kept introducing so many different types of characters in the same setting, but they didn’t take away from the plot in any way. While Shiloh does work with her mentor, Evan, at times she seems to be able to do more without his help. She is even able to set up a coven to fight the evil battering her town. While I was happy for her independence, I was a bit disappointed too, because I wanted Evan to have more of a story as I really liked his character in book one. As for Trent, he is still in the picture as her boyfriend, but he starts changing in weird ways too. It seems that their romance picks up a bit more than in book one but doesn’t seem to really be the focus at any time in this story which I hope evolves in the rest of the series. For now, the focus between them is a secret that Shiloh knows.

Similar to book one, the pacing of the events is well written and the reader can keep up without confusion. The action and suspense build in the book to a page-turning frenzy until the last page. It will be interesting to see where Soule goes next in this series and whether or not she continues to add supernatural creatures to the world of Whispering Pines.

Favorite Quote: “Whatever the hell was going down, it wasn’t good. None of it added up. Only one thing still made sense to me. Avenging my dad.” End of Chapter 28

MOONLIGHT MAYHEM continues Shiloh's story as she learns more about herself and Whispering Pines.

I still like Shiloh, She is pretty hard headed but still able to work through things eventually and she has a great team of allies behind her. Trent and her make a good couple and he is a great part of the story but there wasn't really any romance going on in book 2. I didn't despise Shiloh's mom as much in book 2 but I cant really tell where she stands in everything and the addition of Trent's Dad makes it even more confusing to me. I cant tell if they are there to help or hinder. Sherry introduces even more characters into the series, we even get a zombie. It took me a while to get into the story. I'm not sure if it was me, the pacing or if it took to long to really get going but for the first third of the book I had to force myself to stay with it. I wasn't terribly surprised by who the villain of the story was. There weren't any overly obvious clues that pointed to it but I it was pretty obvious to me and I kinda expected it by the time it was revealed.

There was plenty of action. A major loss and even though we get answers to a lot of different things it seems that there are still just as many questions that pop up by the end of MOONLIGHT MAYHEM. I'm definitely interested in learning more about a certain best friends family and also about the new allies that appear and why they are really there. I will continue to follow the series as I have no clue where the story will turn.

Moonlight Mayhem is the second book in the Spellbound series by Sherry Soule. Whereas the first book concentrated on ghosts and demons, this one was more about werewolves. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, but I didn't connect with this one as much.

There is still the creepy vibe like the first book had. There is literally danger creeping around everywhere in Whispering Pines. There are people being attacked or murdered left and right. I don't think I would be leaving my house if I lived there. After Shiloh's father is murdered, all she can think of is vengeance. She knows that these attacks aren't from regular animals like the town officials lead people to believe. It is Shiloh's responsibility to protect the town from supernatural threats, and that's a lot of pressure to put on a 16 year old girl.

At the beginning of the book, Shiloh and Trent are broken up. With Trent's uncle being Shiloh's mentor, they are bound to see each other. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of romance involved. They do have some nice training scenes together though. Some interesting secrets come out about Trent that I didn't expect.

For those that love action, you won't be disappointed. There are a lot of suspenseful, action packed moments. There are some new characters in this book that were interesting. I thought the book was a little predictable though. There were some loose ends but I'm sure they will be tied up in the next book. I just hope we see a little more of Trent and Shiloh's relationship.

Shiloh Trudell thought she was getting used to the strange events in Fallen Oaks, until the full moon brings another surge of supernatural threats to her coastal town. Ferocious wolves, deadly necromancers, and fallen angels have descended upon the neighborhood, so Shiloh needs to gain control of her magical abilities—and her impetuous heart—fast!

As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter sexy, brooding Trent Donovan—local bad boy, and the type of guy your mother warned you about.

While Trent tries to help Shiloh prepare for a supernatural battle, their fiery spark intensifies into a slow burn. Romance with an unlimited potential allows them to experience both the thrill of love and the chill of fear for the object of their affection.

Then Shiloh discovers a dark family secret that threatens to shatter her world. The only thing that keeps her going is her thirst for revenge and the protective, rebellious boy she’s falling head over heels for.

When her classmates are attacked by a mysterious creature and her father is murdered, Shiloh vows vengeance. Except that’s not all Shiloh has to worry about. She’s also struggling not to become the very thing she fights: evil.

But with demon blood inside her—anything can happen…

Still has typos and misused words, and some sentences where words are missing. The plot was obvious, but I decided to see if the second book was any better. Not by much. Some making out, but not anything further. Some language and violence as well, but good message about the poisoning effects of revenge.

In Moonlight Mayhem Shiloh and Trent are no longer a couple and are struggling with the aftermath of the events in Beautifully Broken. Shiloh and her friend Ari find themselves in the middle of another paranormal mystery after some of the high school football players are attacked. With the help of Evans, werewolf creatures called lycans are determined to be the culprit. Shiloh's initial interest in the attacks are intensified once her father becomes one of the victims. Now, Shiloh is out for revenge against her father's killer and needs Trent's help in order to stop the attacks around town.

During the beginning, I was disappointed by the lack of romance between Shiloh and Trent but that quickly turned around once Trent was enlisted by Evans to train Shiloh to fight. I knew they wouldn't be able to stay away from each other for long! Fighting lead to some hot kissing scenes but then took a turn for the worst once Shiloh realized something was seriously wrong with Trent. I'm curious to see how Trent's new powers will evolve in the next book.

I haven't read many books about werewolves but I loved how they were portrayed in this novel. There was such a great mystery all throughout the book and it kept me guessing until the very end. Some new characters were introduced as well so I'm looking forward to learning more about them in the future. This series just keeps getting better with each book and I love that Shiloh is such a strong character.

It took me a couple weeks reading on and off to get through this one. While I enjoyed the book, it didn’t capture me in the quite same way that the first instalment did. Gone were the hidden secrets and gothic undertones that we got exploring the Ravenhurst Manor, instead, replaced by a not-a-werewolf wolf infestation story. Unfortunately, in that regard, there wasn’t a lot of mystery to keep me guessing. So, if you’re one for big twists, you might be a little disappointed.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Beautifully Broken, so I was looking forward to reading the second. However now that I have finished I'm hesitant to read the third.

There was so much going on at once, Mayhem was 100% right. There were Werefolfes, Fallen Angels, Demons, Fea, Witches. And i was having trouble connecting to Shiloh's feelings.

I will read the third book hoping it will tie it all together and be as good as the first but I may leave it a little while.

I rate it 3.5 stars.
