Wow I have no words! This book was beyond amazing. Full of passion, angst, suspense and adventure! Heroine was feisty, sassy and brave. She was stubborn, she was fiery, and she drove our hero crazy ! Even though she originally hates Damian cause he is English and she is Scottish and she even plans to kill him with the help of her betrothed she can't help falling in love with him. I love Connie Mason's historical romances. She has officially become one of my favorite authors!
THIS STORY STARTED OUT SLOW FOR ME, MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS AFTER A LONG DAY OF WORK AND I WAS EXHAUSTED, BUT ANYWAYS THE GOOD PART CREPT IN WHEN MY EYES THREATENED TO FALL SHUT ON ME!
OUR HERO is has been awarded for his loyalty towards the Crown, well that's what they say anyway and he's trusted by the King to be the new laird of Misterly and he was promised to have a heiress chosen as a wife for him. Satisfied, he goes to his new land and stumbles upon the current inhabitants of the keep, and of course meets our feisty heroine who protects what's hers very fiercely. Initially, I wasn't endeared to Damian because he was a big-ass jerk and totally unfeeling until he let lust get the better of him. *rolls eye* But okay, later it gets better when he starts caring for her, and get all caveman and possessive when she's determined to marry his enemy just to protect her birthright. Oh yea, before I forget part of the reason he traveled to Misterly was to prevent her wedding to the Gordon Chief. It's understandable why Damian adamantly refused Elissa to leave her home, mainly because he liked her and now that they were dirtying the sheets, it's all the more reason why he won't let her go, despite being in denial of his true feelings for her. But, on Elissa's end, she doesn't understand why he acts so. Damian's not a bad man, in fact he treats Elissa's ailing mother and sister with care and concern after Elissa's insistence and well, she was a literal viper to him in the beginning. When the King sends his bride-to-be to him, he's determined to stand by his duty yet his heart is torn because clearly he wants Elissa like a sickness under his skin, and it doesn't help that his bride is repulsively mean. Okay, one thing that I had to agree with his best friend is for all his honor, he wasn't honorable in his treatment with Elissa by taking her virginity and not marrying her at all. That was a classic dick move.
OUR HEROINE was only trying to protect her home and people, by being the veritable viper towards Damian when he first arrives and it was a little annoying when she kept spitting and accusing him, what with all the animosity between the Highlanders and English because she's a Jacobite sympathizer....anyway she was to be sent off to the Convent but with her ailing mother and sister, she refuses to leave and causes quite the mischief mayhem just to thwart Damian. Soon, the sparks give way to a simmering passion between the two, and she the man she thought to marry has betrayed her by risking her virginity to seduce the Englishman and then kill him. But, how can she kill a man who is fast becoming a fondness in her heart? Elissa's a strong woman, who endures it all come high hell or not. When Kimbra, the heiress arrives and bullies her, and her kinsmen, Elissa doesn't take it lying down nor does she complains. That's where her strength lies and it's a trait most admirable to a man like Damian...or rather most alpha men.
OVERALL this was a really enjoyable and exciting story with a dash of angst and drama. My perfect cup of tea in a book.
Así como los otros dos libros que leí de esta autora no me gustaron, este merece cada una de las 5 estrellas. Los protagonistas no me decepcionaron y la historia simplemente no la puedes dejar de leer.
A Touch So Wicked is the third novel of Connie Mason’s Sin Trilogy in it we meet Sir Damian Stratton also known as the Demon Knight for his skill and ruthlessness in battle. Damian has long served the King of England as has begun to think that he may never have his reward that the king promised him so long ago, until one day he is called before the king and given everything he wanted and more, not only land in England but the title of, Earl of Clarendon.
But everything comes with a price; he also becomes Lord of Misterly a far off castle in the Highlands that the king wants him to take over because of talk that the Maiden of Misterly and Laird Gordon. The Gordon’s mostly their leaders are a band of rebels that are still fighting English rule in the Highlands even years after the war.
If the two clans unite they could become a strong force that would not only be a threat to the peace, but to England rule as well.
Once arriving at Misterly though Damian finds that he can not do as the king ordered and send Elissa Fraser (the Maiden of Misterly) to a Abby as it becomes obvious right from the start that she would escape and find her way to the Gordon, which would mean the marriage he was supposed to prevent, and cost him his titles and lands.
The only way to keep them apart is to of course marry Elissa himself, it does not hurt that the passion that rages between the two is unlike any he has ever felt.
But the Gordon will not give his bride up so easily. . .
As with the last book in this trilogy I really enjoyed this one, the passion between the two characters is what I have come to expect from the author and I was not let down in this book.
The only thing I could have done with out was Elissa’s stubbornness and constant name calling, I suppose I can see how it plays into the book but after a while it just became not only annoying but pointless in my opinion.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a good historical romance novel.
Damian Stratton, aka the Demon Knight is looking for security in a troubled time. The Middle Ages was a difficult and precarious time for knights as it was for commoners, but the worse for women. Damian finally is given land and a title by the King, but it is a double edged sword because he has to 'take' and keep the Scottish land of Misterly AND keep the Maiden of Misterly, Elissa from marrying the outlaw Scot Gordon laird if he wants to stay in favor of the King and keep his new lands. Wow, talk about a gift with strings attached! Big problem (of course!) Damian is seriously in lust with Elissa from the first moment he sees her. She is truly a maid, having never been touched by a man (including kisses) so Damian slowly (at least a week) makes passes at her and compliments her in a crude, but sexy man ways. Seriously, this is set in the medieval period, not usually know for courtly love or romantic gestures. I did like that Damian becomes friends with her sister and the old Lady Misterly, to even help them heal and grow after the trauma's of war and death in the family. The old nursemaid, Nan, gives hints to the future so it doesn't come to a complete surprise that Elissa and Damian are the h/H destined to be together. I almost would have gotten rid of this character because it was more then just foreshadowing, it was outright killing the surprise of H/h's courtship. Of course there are lots of obstacles to the marriage for the H/h, like annulments, prison sentences, devious court lady, and lots of travel... This is well written by an experienced writer that has clearly written sexy scenes and drama before. Kindle freebie and 384 pages 2 stars
It could have been much worse. In fact, I've read worse by this author. The heroine is beyond stubborn, refusing to give up her hatred for Englishmen and constantly gives herself guilt trips over her lust for the hero. The Hero is kind of a jackass. He arrives, takes a look at this girl and says "Why not? I can have her if I want her." After several near rapes in which the heroine begs him not to dishonor her, he finally orders her to his bedroom to prepare herself for him. So after a whole bunch of drama, she falls into a plot to kill our hero, but wonders if she really wants him dead.
I think she had every right to want him dead. His attitude toward seducing this heroine is pretty awful. Just because you make her enjoy it, doesn't mean you're not a selfish prick. He's going to just take her virginity, make her his mistress and shame her in front of all her people. These "Heroes" need to stop thinking with there little heads... they don't seem to consider consequences of their actions.
So after a while they realize they're sexually compatible, evil court lady comes along and TSTL heroine believes her lies, nearly gets killed, etc. The last part of the book was probably the best part and I think the part that earns the two stars.
I also have to give a thumbs down for the recycling of characters. The witchy nursemaid "Nan" who can see the future, hear voices and pop in and out as though she's teleporting is in this book. She can also be found in Connie's other book,The Lion's Bride.

I have to say that I loved Elissa's character. She is very brave, stubborn and sassy. She is stubborn so its very hard for her to accept that the past is the past, and move on. Or the fact that not all Englishmen are horrible, even if their name or reputation implies different. Damien, has his heart set on one thing and one thing only. Okay well two. Misterly Castle is all he has ever wanted and he finally is making it a home when things really go astray. And the second thing, is Elissa even though that shouldn't happen. He defied the king by not sending her away, but he did follow the kings orders by not allowing Elissa and Tavis Gordon to marry. If he had just sent word to the king about that fact, maybe some things might not have happened-then again things could have been worse than they were. Bring in Kimbra, Damien's bride-to-be. A real bitch, extremely spoiled and rude. I just couldn't believe Damien put up with her and her attitude as long as he did, not after the way he and Elissa quarreled. She never really did get set in her place, never. That is disappointing to me. This is a good highlander story, but it only has the strong highlander lass, the hero was an Englishman.
The Demon Knight, Damian, is on a mission for the King, in exchange for keeping peace in the Scottish Highlands, he´s given Misterly. All he has to do is make sure that the Maiden of Misterly doesn´t marry the neighbor, which could start a new rebellion. What he never thought about was how he would feel for Elissa, or that it wasn´t just shipping her and her mother of to the convent. And what will happen when his promised heiress arrives? Historical romance, fluffy smut, miscommunication and suspense.
Jacobite Lady Elissa is determined to marry the head of the rebels and to avoid the grasps of the Demon Knight, Damien, who has been appointed by the English king as the new lord of Misterly.
What I liked about this was that the general lack of misunderstandings, hatred and mistrust (though there is still enough). Also, neither of the protagonists are irrational or annoying. But it just didn't grip me enough.
This was the first book I read from the sin trilogy & the best book in this series. I was much in love with the story & turn out to be my all time favorite book. The story is way better compared to the other book. I like the plot, the romance & the characters in this book. Both Damian & Elissa were equally powerful characters. The chemistry between them were top notch. The writing style & dialogue keep me hook to the story.
I needed something light after a heavy book and this was definitely light enough. The plot was fairly interesting but I felt like there were the same misunderstandings that are in so many romance novels. (I don't think he really loves me, I can't trust her, etc.). Mainly, it's a quick, easy read.
I became a fan of Connie Mason after reading Viking Warrior (which was a very steamy story with an interesting plot to keep the reader entertained in between the sexual parts) so I picked this one up at the bookstore. It was the only book by Connie Mason there. I was disappointed. This book is no Viking Warrior.
Pretty good book--no huge surprises, but the main characters were likable (for the most part) and the situations made for good drama. I like books that have more adventure, rather than focus on the "he loves me/loves me not" angst, and there was plenty of adventure here. Also, some interesting insights into George II (I wonder if he was really that much of a creep!).
Only read the first chapter....a few days later!!! finished it! well! It was full of excitement, and I fell in love with Damian....Elissa was such a lady of my liking...they were a perfect couple....hated for the book to end!!!!
I enjoyed this book, but wouldn't count it among my favorites. The biggest thing that struck me is that this book really has the feel of the time period with how people act and talk, though the talking did get a little annoying by the end.
It's a very good read.I really liked the way the plot was build. except for the mention of characters in a taste of sin there is no big connection to stories and can be read as stand alone. The story is before the time line of a taste of sin.
