Believe It or Not is like Guinness World Records, the author gives you a lot of information about interesting or crazy things people have done. Robert Ripley, the author of the book became a huge star after he founded this book. This book is Non-fiction, the genre is mostly crazy but also a little scary. I think Ripley made this book for humours or knowledgeable thoughts.

I think the author of this book tried to deliver that people can do anything but only if you commit to what you are trying to do. Personally I learned quiet a few things for example, we people can be obsessed to something easily or we can make miniature things. I don't think you would a lot learn from this book, you would probably get to the point of people can do anything but only if you commit to it.

I would give this book a 8, it has weird but also funny short stories. My favorite part of the story is on page 12 where I found out there is a pink lake in Africa, Senegal. I would recommend the for 10-12 year olds who like to read short and interesting "stories".
I hope you will enjoy the book.

I love the Ripley's books. I learn all sorts of weird facts and like reading weird stuff out loud to my mom to freak her out. This book is awesome. (2nd grade)

Vocab is easier in this one than in others. Great photos and graphics. Highly recommend for young, adventurous readers (Mom).

Ripley's believe it or not! (Sp.ed.) (2011) Orlando, FL: Scholastic Inc.

Relevance and Relationship—
Ripley's Believe It or Not! (RBI)has captured imaginations for decades. Unbelievable exhibitions have showcased the miracles of nature for generations to enjoy. Science, Math, History, and Social Studies could each utilize this resource that children love to read. Priced at $9.00 for hardcover, the cost is negligible.

Purpose:—
Although children are targeted with this resource, all ages use Ripley’s collection. Viewing the amazing oddities in this book opens the door for educators to lead students to find out the “whys and wherefores” that potentially cause these occurrences. A lighthearted approach is used when displaying the amazing manifestations. Unlike almanacs and world records books, Ripley’s compilation does not just document world record holders, it reports the wild and mysterious phenomena of the world.

Validity—
An editorial review from Barnes and Noble notes that the Ripley’s latest release is a colorful, easy to use reference. Murphy (2011)

Parents report this is a book series that is purchased for their children every year.

Robert Ripley’s first venture was a television sports cartoon feature called Champs and Chumps in 1941. Some 70 years later, the Ripley’s empire is stronger than ever and combing the world for strange and wonderful fascinations. The Ripley name has become synonymous with trusted information.

Accelerated Reader, a reading program used by over 70,000 schools across the nation, has included Ripley’s books in their elementary reading lists according to the official Ripley’s site.

Format–
Each page has color filled images of weird and amazing marvels which are Ripley. Illustrations and text are arranged in scrapbooking style breaking the boring format of many reference materials. The pictures are clear and eye-catching. The table of contents is arranged into subject categories. The index has small readable font in 4 column design.

Arrangement and Presentation-
The presentation strategies used are especially inviting to children. The front cover of a bulging-eyed woman is an overwhelming invitation for children to pick it up. Catchy headings that are shocking, gross, and some hilarious make this book a page-turner.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not Books are now available as ebooks.

Diversity
The Ripley’s reference collections appeal to both genders (particularly male) and all cultures of the world as its material is gathered from across the globe. Over the past 3 years, RBI has been working to procure foreign publishing rights and have nearly a dozen signed already.
