After defeating the Sword of Courage, Mimori Touka finally arrives in the Country at the End of the World. Forbidden Magic is finally within his grasp--and it’s strong enough to break through the defenses surrounding the Goddess Vicius so that Touka can take his long-awaited revenge! But the Country at the End of the World has its own problems on the the strongest knights of Alion are about to invade. Can anyone stand against them?
I admit I’m a bit surprised I’m still reading this series because it’s so violent, and the violence is a bit high in this volume in particular. Plus it’s a little annoying how insecure and helpless the female characters are at times.
But on a whole the story is intriguing and I want Touka to win. I’m also interested in how his classmates will fare and the secrets the goddess is keeping. The yuri/lesbian theme that was introduced in the last volume is expanded upon here, but it seems to be there just for fan service at times. Still, I’m invested in how Hijiri and Ayaka will navigate the dangers of being under the goddess’s eye.
The author delivers another great volume in this serie. The plot gets more complicated with new politics and betrayals. The grasp of the goddess on the inhabitants is not that strong apparently. The MC keeps surprising with his ideas and tactics, and is nice to see he is not changing. After this volume I was planning to read something in my backlog, but couldn't stop myself and got the next one.
It was too short. At least it felt that way while reading. Didn't resolve the battle with the troops the goddess sent to wipe out the Country at the End of the World. I found the last chapter really nerve wracking and frustrating. But the Leverage'esque style of the ending made me happy and wrapped up the volume nicely I think. Just stinks that the next volume is 6 months out.
In general, this series is continuing to payoff, but unfortunately this volume ends without a resolution to the 6th Order situation that it had been building up to. Also, the surprise cliffhanger was uncalled for. Hopefully, our MCs make it past 1st base soon as well.
