Serendipity

Rate this book
When Howard Reese and Lynne Robertson, high school friends who haven't seen each other in a decade, bump into each other at the state fair, they can't imagine the roller-coaster ride that's in store for them. Lynne gives Howard her number so they can keep in touch, not expecting him to call--and he proves her right. Lynne has given up on ever hearing from him again when he finally works up the courage three months later and asks her to accompany him to the faculty Christmas party at Juniper Junction Elementary School, where he is the choir director and third grade teacher. Lynne accepts and has a wonderful time. But two weeks later, at a friend's New Year's Eve party, Lynne meets Carl--suave, sophisticated, and charming...or so he seems. Underneath his gentlemanly exterior hides a controlling, manipulative man who shows himself when he strikes Lynne during an argument, prompting her to end the relationship and file for a restraining order. But that piece of paper won't stop Carl, who continuously threatens Lynne, making her fearful to pursue a relationship with Howard. Howard, clueless about Carl, is persistent, always reminding Lynne that God loves her and so does he. But Lynne is trapped in an endless nightmare. How will she ever escape Carl's domineering influence, or should she even try? Will Howard and Lynne ever be able to forge a relationship? Was their meeting a fluke or Serendipity?
