A fascinating book about spirituality and the journey that is possible for anyone seeking a profound life journey into the realm of spirit. Gloria writes clearly and encouragingly and from a deeply personal perspective. The book's message is about the dynamics of conscious change and is based on her many years of healing, teaching and counselling. The steps of the journey are laid out and it is a difficult path. Not sure I'm ready to embark but there are golden nuggets of philosophy tucked away in the chapters which would help anyone experiencing difficulty in life. Inspirational in many places.

"Change is constantly tailoring us to become all that we are meant to be. It moulds us as surely as winds sculpt a tree or flowing waters reshape the hardest rock"

"Turning points announce themselves through a variety of vague symptoms: deep restlessness, a yearning with no name, inexplicable boredom, the feeling of being stuck"

"If it is time to learn a specific lesson, then events will happen that set up the perfect opportunity"

"In the face of disappointment or radical change we dislike, it is a challenge to trust that there is a purpose"

"The desire to understand sets in motion powerful forces, and the answers begin to come slowly, a bit at a time"

"We are participants in - not victims of - a world we influence by every choice we make"

"All of us are Beings of Light - nothing less"

"Consciousness is the bridge being built between the worlds of mind and matter"

"Our greatest teachers may appear to be the people in our lives who give us the most grief"

"psychic abilities make wonderful servants but terrible masters"

"Although it seems anachronistic in a technological, materialistic society, the fact is that millions of sane, educated people continue to believe in communication from Spirit"

"Once we start paying attention to what's happening in our own environment, we begin to see that the universe is giving us all sorts of clues about our path"

"The leap is to accept that one's life has a plan and that whatever or whoever we've brought into it at any given moment has a purpose in that plan, even if we cannot see any rhyme or reason for it at the moment"

"The signature of everything we believe, and are therefore really committed to, is in everything we do"

"When we worry we are actively praying for what we don't want to happen"

"Our lostness demands we find our way home"

"Until we face death, all we're doing is spending a lot of energy avoiding it"

"Since my house burned down, I now own a better view of the rising moon" (MASAHIDE)

"Security is mostly a superstition. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright experience. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing"

"As we experience conscious change, we begin to see that no matter how difficult a challenge has been, somewhere behind it all is the observing self that not only created it but is experiencing it and that will continue to exist after the challenge has passed"

I really like this book. For me this book lasted more than a decade of reading. I found it on vacation and it intrigued me. Then I'd get to a point where I couldn't understand it and put it aside. Some time later I'd pick it up again, and somehow I'd grown into the understanding. It took me further and deeper and was a journey and comfort through the years. Many thanks to Gloria Kapinski for my growth and her insight.

I loved this book. What incredible insight from Gloria Karpinski over 25 years ago. This book reaffirmed what I have believed for most of my life and is really life affirming. If you are interested in why we are here, where we are going and what for....you should enjoy this book. It is one that I will go back to often for it lifts my spirits and I know it will help me through difficult times.

This is one of those books I will read over and over. It is particularly helpful in times of stress or significant loss. The message about continuity of life is very comforting and intriguing.
I don't agree with some ideas in this book but still find it a worthwhile read. I've recommended to many and keep extra copies on hand as it is one I like to share.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is open to eclectic spiritual ideas. Karpinski is a gifted spiritual teacher who knows how explain the unexplainable. It is also a wonderful introduction to the unseen world for those willing to explore beyond their culturally-held views.
