I haven't finished this book but I've read enough that I feel justified in reviewing it.

It's not quite what I expected when I got it: I was hoping for kind of a big-picture commentary, to give deeper insight into or a bigger picture on the Bible when I got to sections I wanted to find out more about. It's really not that.

The general information sections in the front and back are pretty good to help learn more about the background of the Bible, about history and life in ancient times, important overviews of theological concepts and such things as that. That part of the book is pretty good. The middle, however, which is what I was especially interested in, is simply an overview of the Bible, each section at a time. There's a few in-depth things, but not very much.

Good for some surface insights, and probably good for a new believer learning about the Bible: I felt like I got some out of the general information sections, but not from the Bible commentary portion.
