The Silence

Rate this book
Some things you cannot see or explain, but they are there, lurking.
Some things dwell in the waiting…watching…haunting.
Sometimes evil takes on many forms, many faces.
And silence is the last thing you hear, when it’s already too late.

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. It is creepy, scary and I could not put it down til I read it cover to cover. Well written tale. I still feel creeped out. I would highly recommend this book if you love haunted tales.

Truly enjoyed the creepy feelings that I received while reading this book. Is it wrong to say I spent most of the book worried about Sassy? Great Read!

The story centers around a family starting over, moving to a small Michigan town. They buy a house that has been haunted and cursed. The spirits in the house want to kill the young boy in the family. With the help on a friend and neighbor the family has to battle the entities to save themselves.

This book was a good creepy ghost story. As with most ghost stories I question some of the characters actions. Like, why go back into a house after you've made your escape???, but its done time and time. But the author nailed building up the suspense. The only real problem I had with the book is there was no one point of view. The point of view kept jumping around to every character. This made it a tad confusing at times. Several times, I had to go back and read passages again.

Overall a great ghost story!

Denton Road has a history of the supernatural, both in fiction and reality. The author took those scary stories and made his own.

In my opinion, this is a good ghost story with likable characters, good foreshadowing, and some gruesomely vivid scenes. Having said that, the author's writing style made it very hard to get into the book. The point of view is constantly switched from third person limited to omniscient to first person and back all within the course of a page. Add on top of that things you would expect characters in a bad horror movie to do (I.E. go into the haunted house, fix an engine in front of said house at night WHILE trying to escape, etc.)

Overall I would say it is a good effort for a first novel and with an editor and some tweaking could turn into a great book.
