Garth Turner, a noted expert on current fiscal and political trends, says that Baby Boomers are investing in absolutely the wrong things and saving only a fraction of what they will need to retire. Right now their retirement looks bleak at best. He warns that the next generation - the Gen Xers of today - will not be able to support 80 million retiring Baby Boomers across North America. The answer to this impending crisis is to start planning and investing today and Garth Turner provides readers with a plan to take advantage of the coming financial boom and to prosper in the years ahead.
Most of the knowledge is irrelevant today. It was interesting to see all the predictions that were made 25 years ago and that many of the predictions didn't pan out. While the book did provide some good investing principles, these tended to be buried amidst much more questionable advice. For this reason the book should be read for amusement, rather than education.
