I absolutely ADORE this book. It comes with a companion CD in which all sorts of musical styles are explored with each turn of the page - gospel, blues, rock-n-roll, country, cajun, bluegrass, techno, jazz - you name it. Every verse is some little baby that's ravenous and needs consoling with food - a pie. The pie flavors are correlated to the musical genres. The baby's names are a subtle nod to a famous composer or performer of that style. Opera = 'Luciano was a sweet little tenor, he was so hungry he cried. I said, "Don't you cry, I'll bake you a pie. I'll bake you an eggplant parmesan pie." ' or 'Hank was a sweet little cowboy, he was so hungry he cried. I said, "Don't you cry, I'll bake you a pie. I'll bake you a cactus meringue pie." ' My students ask for this one repeatedly.
