Really good book for an essentially academic text. Schact's analysis of the septet of Classic Modern philosophers follows a template of exploring each author's program, followed by an examination of knowledge of essential matters regarding the self, the mind, our experiences and the notion of God. While the work is limited in scope to most significantly address theories of knowledge it is a truly useful secondary source to see the evolution of philosophical thought through epoch.
