The Incomparable Jesus

Rate this book
Distilled from his personal experiences in teaching Jesus to the hard-to-reach, this professional educator has produced a tender testament to the incomparable Jesus. It describes a Savior who walked with him through the halls of the county jail where he served as chaplain, succoring those in need. In this slim volume, Palmer sensitively shares his understanding of what it means to know Jesus by doing his works. He lists the qualities of divine character attested to by the Apostles Peter and Paul, and also those that Jesus revealed about himself in his masterful Sermon on the Mount, particularly in the beatitudes. With reverence Palmer shares personal spiritual experiences that were life-changing assurances of Jesus’s love for him—a love poured out unstintingly in equally life-changing blessings on prisoners whose crimes had not stopped short of sexual abuse and murder. Reading this book offers a deeper understanding of the Savior’s mercy, a stronger sense of his love, and a deeper commitment to follow him.

This book is enjoyable and easy read. It's mostly regarding the life and ministry of Jesus Christ but also is interspersed with his own personal experiences and insights. There are a couple parts that I felt the author tried too hard to relate Christ's teachings with our times and specific LDS practices, which made those parts awkward. Overall, a good, simple read that helps strengthen your Christian desires.

I’ve read this book over and over again as well as bought several copies for friends and cult members. What a letter of love for Christ the author wrote to share with the world. I’ve read thousands of non fiction books and this remains one of my favorites. He is a gifted critical thinker which seems like a rarity today. The author was a caring, giving man who worked as a Chaplain in an Utah jail and found the real Jesus Christ by reading the Bible. Revelation 22:18-19

An interesting discussion on Jesus' life, I felt that Mr. Palmer could have elaborated more on some of his ideas.

The best book I have ever read about the teachings of Jesus. I found the chapter about the Atonement to be particularly eye-opening.
