This contains some dumb advice and some (unfortunately) very outdated advice and how to information. But, it’s such a fun book, and some of the how to information is definitely useful; there’s a lot of good stuff in here. This book is fun to peruse. Looking through it, there will always be more than a few things that will both grab my attention and teach me something.

This book is a continuing resource for me. For instance, it recently taught me how to rewire all of the vintage lamps in my home (took me all of 5 mins., and people charge big bucks for that!). My parents-in-law were so impressed that they asked me to rewire their lamps. Now, I can make a lamp, if I want to.
It also helped me when I had my housewarming and somehow dishwashing liquid got into my dishwasher (the sink kind, not the machine kind) causing my kitchen to fill with bubbles moments before guests arrived (and simultaneous with my cat coughing up a hairball on my white rug). This book gave me step-by-step instructions that had the bubbles out of the machine, and out of the kitchen, in minutes (less than 10 mins.).
It can teach you everything from how to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for 8, to how to rewire a dryer socket. In some cases, the step-by-step is over-simplified, but some would call that idiot-proof. It just depends on your level of proficiency with the particular subject at-hand. For me, the turkey-dinner instructions would be over-simplified, but there's no such thing as over-simplifying instructions about electrical appliances. For others, this would be reversed.
This is a great book to have on hand if you're clueless. It really tells you how to do everything ... from "How to know if you're in love" to "How to name a baby" and many other off the wall things you think most people would know. Just a fun book to have on hand!
