Judas: A Biographical Novel Of The Life of Judas Iscariot

Rate this book
Judas is an intimate story of the disciple who betrayed Jesus Christ. His birth in Kerioth, and family relationship to the Shepherds of Kerioth, the shepherds of the sacred Temple flock begin his life. As a young man he follows, along with other disciples and ultimately bears the responsibility for betraying the Lord. Each Bible reference to Judas is incorporated in the historical narrative along with much of typical life of a Hebrew youth of his day. The results of the betrayal lead to a surprising ending and an influence that extends into todays Christian movement. Live with Judas as he falls in love, learns to hate, is forced to forgive, sharpens his skills, serves in the fulfillment of Scripture and serves as the Master has appointed him. Judas will become a window to the disciple band, a mirror to the reader and an inspiration to the will of God.

It took me 21 days to read these 493 pages, which is quite fast for me, but it attests to the quality of this biographical novel...historical fiction, if you will. Only one thing is truly known about Judas Iscariot, which could be written down in one page. But the author made an in-depth study of what Judas’ life “may” have been like. I found the story very compelling. Ken was my pastor for several years in Eagle River and I came to know him well. Expanding what little is known of Judas, to this story, is quite remarkable. Only one thing takes away from this book...for me... and that is it should have had at least one additional proofread. The book was self-published through iUniverse and contains numerous typos: ie though instead of thought. A couple of hundred strategically placed commas would have helped immensely. But I easily overlooked that and just enjoyed my ride with Pastor Ken, on a trip through Judas’ life.
