Young Gail Russell was determined to join her friend Barney on what sounded a fascinating expedition a study of the flora and fauna of Nepal, at the foot of the awesome Himalayas. But there was one big snag: the leader of the expediation, Doctor Webb Whitfield, wouldn't hear of it. However, Gail managed to persuade him to change his mind by pretending to get engaged to yet another member of the party which rather complicated matters when she found herself falling in love with Webb Whitfield himself! And by that time it was more than clear that Webb had eyes for no one but the charming Kristel Vilvoorde...

The heroine (19) is a typical spoiled brat. Her father is the dean of her college and co-sponsoring the expedition that the hero (30) is running (he is a professor of birds) in India. Her friend is going as he is a taxidermist (vomit) and so she wants to go (because she gets whatever she wants) because college is dull and she doesn't know what to do with herself.
The hero, when he meets her in India, refuses to take her, and so she tries to use wiles on him. He only agrees when she becomes engaged to another member of the team (and it's obviously a put up job).
The hero is jealous, especially after they have a moment of intimacy, but then she carries on her deception as she thinks he would still send her home (which he would as he says at the end).
It gets to the point that when, about 40 pages from the end, a lady professor joins, the hero decides to have an affair with her! He sees the fake fiancé kiss the heroine (against her will), so he goes straight to the OW and passionately makes out with her and the heroine sees. At the end, the hero says he was ripe for an affair, but the OW decided not to be unfaithful to her husband's memory. So he would have had sex with the OW, despite supposedly being in love with the heroine. He also says it is ok that the heroine is not smart as he likes to be the clever one in a relationship.
Things I hated: heroine, hero, storyline, almost all the side characters.
