ലക്ഷണമൊത്ത ആദ്യ മലയാള നോവൽ ആയ ഇന്ദുലേഖ (1889) ഇപ്പോഴും, സാഹിത്യഗുണത്തിലും വിൽപ്പനയിലും ഒന്നാമതായി വിരാജിക്കുന്നു. ആദ്യകാല പ്രസാധകർ പ്രസിദ്ധികരിക്കാതെ മാറ്റി വച്ച 'ഇന്ദുലേഖ'യുടെ അവസാനഭാഗവും ഈ പതിപ്പിൽ ചേർത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. അതോടൊപ്പം 'ഇന്ദുലേഖ 'യെക്കുറിച്ചു എം.പി.പോളും കുര്യാക്കോസ് കുമ്പിളക്കുഴിയും നടത്തിയ പഠനവും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

The first Malayalam novel to be published, is still the first to be published in both literary and market literature. The end of Indulekha, which was previously unpublished by early publishers, is included in this edition. It also included the study conducted by MP Paul and Kuriakose Kumbilakkuzhi about 'Indulekha'.

English education those days was like using smartphones and ai now. Our parents always say everything is the fault of smartphones and back then English education was considered the culprit it seems.
A 45 year old marrying a 13 year old was so normal and she wasn't even informed about her own marriage!!??
Madhavan being a colonial sympathiser wasn't what I expected
It's kinda drama like and essay like at places and has sanskrit Slokas.
The sambandha system makes no sense to me. Such a stupid custom.
