This sourcebook details the inner workings of the different types of space habitats in Eclipse Phase, provides comprehensive information on surveillance and sousveillance technologies, and explores uplifts (animals raised to human-level sapience) and the sociopolitical challenges they face.
The definitive sourcebook for players of Uplift characters. Filled with an almost bewilderingly comprehensive rundown of surveillance capabilities in a future where nanotech and quantum cameras are as common as computers, this sourcebook reveals just how hard it is to conduct covert operations in a future where surveillance is ubiquitous beyond the dystopian nightmares of Alex Jones. There's a bevy of new technologies defined and quantified, and an excellent section on just what it is really like ot live in space all day, every day. And excellent book for GM's, a curse for Players hoping to get away with things.
As much as this is a science fiction setting, I think it could serve perfectly well as a textbook of the sociological implications of modern surveillance, sousveillance, and the uses and consequences of each. The remainder that focuses on the trope of the uplift of animals to sentience is of course more obviously fiction, but is no less interesting in its possibilities.
