I liked the story, if it wasn't for Lark being a spineless dumbass I would've given it 4*. As it is it's gotten 3* only thanks to Jared. Spoilers ahead.
Lark didn't deserve Jared, there, I said it. She was lying to him when he asked her explicitly about her breaking off her engagement. He was trying to help her grow a pair and what did she do? Left him and went back to daddy because daddy told her some lies and she's a fucking dumbass and believed him. If Jared didn't go after her, after she abandoned him let me remind you, she would've married someone else. If her daddy asked her to prostitute herself for him she probably would've done it. It's vulgar but it's true.
Now a moment on her sister Risa. How deranged are you to encourage your sister to marry a guy you're having emotional affair with? That entire family is fucked up and Jared deserved better.

I can't stand this book for a moment longer. The heroine is fucking pathetic! She's a groveling, simpering lack-wit without a single ounce of self respect. She's gobbling up the meanest scraps of attention the 'hero' tosses her way, and is so cringingly grateful. The 'hero' treats her like absolute dog shit and she glories in his negative attention because she's one of those women whose sole existence is to please a man who openly despises her. I actually felt myself getting angry as I was turning the pages.
