Definition of a SEAL's Warning Order: What, Where, How, Who, When
Not one to stay within the boundaries of a warning order, Navy SEAL Captain Grant Stevens usually follows his gut instincts. This time will be no different as he attempts to terminate a plot to annihilate Russia's heads of government.
Along with Lieutenant(j.g.) Joe Adler, the covert operation will take them behind the Iron Curtain where they'll encounter murder, kidnapping and betrayal. Grant will draw on his longtime friendship with KGB Officer Grigori Moshenko, asking him to assist in diffusing the deadly plot by attempting to penetrate the very heart of the Soviet Union, its fortress of power--the Kremlin
I had to read it all the way through I couldn't stop!
Riveting espionage. Seals Grant and Joe end up in an international spy ring. Their goal is to retrieve a poisonous drug that can kill innocent citizens in Russia in order for a greedy, egotistical government official to take over the country.
Interesting and different than most Russia American exchanges with a little intrigue offered by the east German angle. More than a little stiff in its telling with too much introspective from the hero.
I have to admit I found this book a little hard to get going on but when I did I couldn't put the book down. It's very well written and the plot is very nicely woven out. It kept me guessing right till the very end. There's a really nice balance between action, description and dialogue which helped the book flow along at a very nice pace.
The author did a really good job of expaining all the technical terms for things like parachute drops, mission types and explosives so even though I've not read many war books I could still get my head around what the hero was doing and how he was doing it. He also handled all the different languages represented well.
My one moan has to be the characters. There were a few too many I think and I struggled to keep up with them all and figure out who was who to begin with, which is probably why it took me a little while to get into. I also think that the author may have done as well, as the side charactes often lacked a little bit of depth. The main characters were fine and I soon adored Captain Grant Stevens but the side characters were not quite so well done.
Bearing that in mind this book gets 4 stars from me. Characters are my main love so I feel I can't give it higher.
Five Stars for a solidly good book. It is a privilege to read a story that rings so true. It is of secrets, those who tell them, those who need them, those who keep them, and those who act upon them; all for the greater good, of course! Truth and history demand that there must also be those who betray the secrets. Hey, this is about spys.
Read WARNING ORDER for the revelations and stimulation. My heart certainly got a workout.
The two seals with the assistance of a Russian KGB save the cold war from heating up. There are several interesting subplots with enough intrigue to keep the reader interested to the surprising conclusion.
Fast moving, well development of characters, interesting twists, full of suspense, and neatly wrapped up at the conclusion Good book Will read more of this author
