Please It has come to my attention that S&M is being stolen by Nene King, Sasha Stark, and Daniel Newheart. I'm pretty sure this is the same person/corporation. Please do not purchase those books. I have also submitted a claim of copyright infringement against all books and parties. I have ONLY published the S&M books under Vera Roberts and will continue to do so. Mariana Harlow discovered a kinky secret about her boss, Scott Reed, one day while she cleaned his home. When Scott catches her snooping, he gives her a punishment that opens the doors to the delicious world of BDSM.
Ironically, I've been reading and posting on a thread about the things we hate seeing in BW/WM books and this book should be the poster child for that topic. Stupid, immature heroine, hero who's too damn good to be true and the kink thrown in for the shits and giggles. Marianna is the kind of character who makes my back teeth ache. A chick with more money than sense--and she's lacking the money too due to her champagne tastes and beer budget. To pay for all her frills as well as the bills, she takes a job as OMG A MAID (and I'd just finished lashing out about why I hated The Help) to one high-end lawyer named Scott who gives his hottie black maid specific instructions as to which drawer she should never open. Well, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know our silly heroine does just that and discovers a whole treasure trove of toys. Seems Scott is not only a huge man-whore, but has a taste for bondage. Whee. I realize there's a part two to this hot mess of a short story but I just didn't care enough about these two shallow people to want to continue. I love interracial erotica but this just didn't fly. Stupid and shallow characters should be outlawed.
This was a very, interesting, exciting and hot read. When you think of a sexual fantasy, this would surely be on my list. It is an Interracial book with BDSM, but don't let the BDSM fool you it's not Hardcore BDSM. The book is a short novella and the only thing I hate about it, is that the story is left at a cliffhanger. It ends on a to be continued...... note. This read is very very erotic and sexually explicit so if that's not your thing, then this may not be for you.
Mariana is a 24 year old college student looking to make ends meet and pay off her debts. She finally gets a job cleaning homes of the wealthy. The job that pays her well is that of Scott who is 34. Mariana has been cleaning for Scott for six weeks and his one rule is to never open a specific drawer. One day Mariana's curiosity got the best of her and she was caught snooping. After being caught everything got steamy from that point on. Even though the book was short there was no romantic development between Scott and Mariana it starts out as sexual excitement, I'm just hoping with the continuing of the book that there will be one. But again very good erotic read, with a hint of S&M.
This is also my first book by this author and look forward to more. Also was a clever title.
This was the very frist book by Ms. Vera Roberts, I read and I will say this. After reading Fiffty Shades of Grey and, looking for another book to fill in the gap left after reading Fiffty Shades of Grey. I read Scott& Mariana in (3) days. The story of S&M was a Lustful and Sexual story I enjoyed it a whole lot. Mariana is the type of women most men would not deal with for too long because of her mouth and her spending habits. The day she takes the job working for Scott Reed, as his housekeeper, you know there is a sexual atraction between the both of them. Scott doesn't make a move for six months until Mariana breaks Scott's one rule he told her never to break. When Mariana's job is on the line, she does the quickest thing that comes in her head. Mariana and Scott spend the rest of the day having sex. This is the start of a Powerful man and a young woman who both have their own reasons for needing each other in their lives. Mariana has no idea that Scott is a (Dom) and he wants Mariana as his (Submissive) and lover. Scott& Mariana is a great book to read for anyone looking for their next (Erotic) romance Novel to read after Fiffty Shades of grey.
~ (Revised this review after finished reading series.) ~
The writing needs a lot of work: missing words, a large number of wrong words (vocabulary skills), and grammar crying out for editing. Scott's character changes (flashback in book 3) in a way that is illogical and ridiculous. None of the books of the series (through S&M III, Vol. II) has a satisfying ending; all end in cliffhangers. I wasted too much time on this series and am not recommending it.
I'm sorry if you doing like my critique of this but honestly it read like a porno. No emotion, just instantaneous jumping each others bones. There was no build up of attraction there was no interest shown between Scott and Mariana, they're re just doing the nasty. The fact that she even states well I better get going I'm lucky he didn't fire me and then calls him boss, like she got busy with him to keep her job. Be still my heart, this is not a romance. Yeah that show the lack of any feelings between them. And the way she takes to bdsm well that comes from the script as well.
This was a quick read, simply because it s an introduction to the series is Scott & Mariana. Though it may have been short, the storyline has been set. If you are into interracial and BDSM, this will be a series for you. Looking forward to see how S & M form their relationship and what if/any hardships come about. Onto S&M ll, looking forward to some heavy sessions.
