This book does probably deserve more than 1 star, but I just cannot give it more, I'm sorry.
I liked the idea of the story, but the product was just weird. There were a few chapters which you could easily skip, because they were just so pointless and insignificant.
Of course, this was just meant to be a cute and funny love story, but it was just so unrealistic that I couldn't believe a word.
And seriously, when someone comes to you and says something like "Hi, we never met, but I know everything about you, because I made you up and I am in a relationship with a non-existent person who has the same first AND last (!) name as you and looks exactly the same as you.", I would rather run away than answer "Great, nice to meet you, wanna go out with me?"
Sure, this was exaggerated, but I think you get what I mean.
I didn't expect me to give it only 1 star, because at first I even liked it, but the ending was just horrible, completely predictable. I also cannot understand how there are people complimenting the author's "fresh writing style". Unless with "fresh" they mean childish, girlish and juvenile.
So, I'm sorry I didn't like it, this is usually my taste in books, but in this case the blurb was better than the actual story.

I liked the idea, but thought the writing was very juvenile. Very predictable and you could stop reading the book anywhere and be just fine. I read a lot of teen fiction, and this just seemed very young to me. I didn't finish it. Wasn't my cup of tea.

After being pressured by her friends to find a boyfriend the summer before her senior year, Avery is unsuccessful so she decides to just make one up. Sounds simple enough, until she discovers her dream guy is real. Have fun reading this ever-dramatic, high school romance full of friendships, cat fights, love triangles and misunderstandings. There's also an enjoyable amount of really embarrassing moments with Avery providing plenty of laughter as she always manages to be clumsy at exactly the wrong times. McBride does a great job of creating an amusing and unique plot. Wait! He's Real? is a light, quick read that will likely appeal to a female teen audience, including a reluctant reader.

A fun, cute, and clever idea. What if after creating the man of your dreams he came walking into your life? I think that's something every girl wishes would happen. This book is also pretty funny. I love Avery's friends and how everyone reacts to the news about Garrett. It's a simple read and really not my type, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. What makes it cooler is that it's based on a true story! It's the kind of story I would see as a movie with my friends and laugh over. Definitely recommended :)

I first read this in this site called wattpad! this story is really good but disappointing at the same time, because I didn't and can't finish reading it, because I'm not in America (in order for me to buy the book, i need to have kindle, and they are not selling a paperback). Only people in america have kindle, so, too bad for me. but oh well, that's life... But still interesting story.

The author of this book is a friend of mine and normally this wouldn't be a genre that I would read. However, I actually found that I enjoyed this book. The plot was girlie but super cute. Although I liked the plot I felt that the word choice/vocabulary was a little weak and simple. Overall: I liked the story and characters but it could have included a little bit more higher level vocabulary.

Cute book! Would have given it a higher rating, but it was really super short. More of a novella than a novel. I think I finished it in just over an hour. The author has a really fresh voice and an interesting writing style. Hope she does more!

I really liked it, but i felt like it was a little unrealistic. Like Garrett didn't even think twice before helping her. It was a quick and easy read, if you want something light. I also felt like Avery was a little annoying, on how she had trouble choosing between Jace and Garrett.
