Rachel Weaver has earned the credential of of Master Herbologist. Weaver states that many of the drugs on the market have bad side effects or can be very costly when there may be better, more organic options available. You can save
money by taking care of most of your medical needs yourself. She qualifies that with a disclaimer that in case of emergencies one should always seek medical attention.

This book has a comprehensive listing of herbal remedies that you can use to treat ailments--everything from Abscesses to High Blood Pressure. Some of these can be treated with everyday household products such as cayenne or apple cider vinegar. Others may require more obscure herbs which you can either grow yourself or find at recommended sources. It's hard to say how effective they are without trying them but she includes accounts of those who have tried many of them with success.

A well-written and thorough book. This book is a good option for those who have limited medical care, or no medical insurance or of for those who are leary of the side effects of synthetic drugs.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Not a goof that I’ve read cover to cover but I use as a resource when needed. Helpful, practical, and personable. Not the only book you’ll need, but an excellent tool for the toolbox.

Haven’t necessarily finished the book because it’s more like a cook book— you go to the parts you need. It’s such an interesting read though! There are so many things we use on a daily basis that we don’t realize are incredibly helpful and healing medicinally. Definitely will be getting some of her other books!

Reread this one since it had been quite a while since the last time I went through it.
This book is a MUST HAVE. Everyone should own it. You need to be capable of handling your own health care (sick care?) and this book equips you well with the skills and knowledge to do so.

Very helpful information. Every family should own a book like this. Recommended for all people who think that traditional healthcare and toothcare is a big scam.

Amazing title with very useful information. Worth buying just for the garlic salve recipe alone!! It took care of a sinus infection I was struggling with for weeks in just one night.

I was given Be Your Own Doctor several years ago, and have referred to it many times since then. Rachel Weave gives quantities of common-sense advice on handling many common problems at home without a doctor. She describes the use of such herbs as garlic, cayenne pepper, lavender, ginger, and many others for healing.

Not only does this book offer ridiculous remedies for serious medical issues without any scientific backing, it actually discourages readers from going to the doctor in life threatening situations. Herbs can be useful in some situations but presenting this information as proven fact to people without a solid scientific/medical background is misleading and unethical.

This is a great book full of real remedies for every day issues. We use it A LOT and I have writing all throughout it. There are a few things in it that I wouldn't necessarily do unless a last resort, but most of it is the perfect go-to for all types of ailments.

My first go-to for any health concern. Easy and understandable, good formatting. Best diy health book I've had yet.
