I have read this novel yearly for many years . it tells the ugly story of the South. Harper Lee lived the life and put on paper one of the finest pieces of literature. The movie with Gregory Peck is as realistic as it can be. My family comes from the area where Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee get together. The land of the South can be defined by two eras. The first being with slavery and the second without. This novel presents the change between the two. Where two different ethnic groups are stumbling along getting their act together. This is an excellent novel to read.....ER
