I don't know what I'll say in this review, in the days where my reviews were long and complicated, I actually consciously thought what to write in the review while reading the books, I don't do that anymore, which made my reading a little faster.
This was an amazing part, even though an atheist I am, I am not happy or gloating in what happened to father Zusima, a corpse is gotta corpse, they have to rot, bad smell will come out. Hell! You might even shit yourself, but that's what happens to hanged people, not sure about just your casual dead in bed people.
But I was glad on how the church turned on him, not that it will hurt him anymore, but because of what it shows about them, that they are a bunch of morons waiting for a dead body to not rot, same thing that happened to a famous Prophet by the name of Muhammad by the way.
And yeah I couldn't not think about what happened to him after he died while reading this, they left him 3 days to rot without burial fighting over who rules after him, and waiting that maybe he will rise from the dead lol
Enough about religion though because honestly fuck it.
Alyosha got affected by all this really badly, and I honestly can't imagine what he must feel now after his father got murder in the same night, and his brother is the main suspect in the case.
Here is why most of my updates about this novel aren't considered a spoiler, reading this novel, from the very beginning you know that Fyodor Karamazov will get killed, reading on you will sense that Dmitry is in the process of being setup for the murder that you don't even know when it will happen.
Not only that back in book 1 or 2 I don't remember I predicted that Smerdiakov will be the killer, and again as of this part 3/4 we don't even know if that's the case.
Now either all that was very obvious, or I am very smart, and I don't think that's the case, Fyodor Dostoevsky was probably dangling bits and pieces for his monthly readers (because most if not all of Fyodor's novels were in fact serializations in newspaper! Imagine the extravagant life of the 1800s!) Just to keep those readers interested in coming back for more.
Because, while there are elite readers who would read a high level novel for just the enjoyment of the writing style of the writer, or how he is creating living humans on paper, that are more real than real people. There are also readers who just love the cheap thrill of a detective novel, so he kept promising them over and over a huge accident will happen, and you guess that's the murder, and you start trying to solve the murder before it even happens by what the writer is telling you about all these characters.
But yeah, a murder happens, Dmitry is the main suspect, I still think it's fucking Smerdiakov, and I still think his motive is because Fyodor raped his mother.
I read 80 pages of this today, because I really wanted to finish it, I usually read 50 pages daily to not overwhelm myself, and to indulge in my guilty pleasure of reading superhero comics.
Here is what I am shocked by though, the 4th part is actually the biggest in this edition, over 540 pages! Send Help!
I don't like Dmitry, he is a fucking moron honestly, he would spend all his money to live a king for a day, and live in poverty all his life, people like that can't possibly function in the real world, and what if Agravina was toying with him? He would have wasted 3000 Robles which is a fortune for nothing.
Alyosha is really naive, I don't like him either.
Grushenka though I love her, I think she is really interesting, I wonder if I would have toyed with her or she toyed with me.
This last part will be really interesting, what will eventually reveal the innocence of Dmitry?
Here is a prediction I think Ivan will return upon hearing the news and he will take part in the last book.
I think we will hear from Alyosha and Katrina Ivanovna, and Smerdiakov.
But for the life of me I can't predict what will reveal his innocence and what will reveal the true killer, I fear to make a trivial prediction like, they will find the bag he kept the 1500 Robles in, because it shouldn't matter, or that the woman who lost the hat will confirm his words, again it shouldn't really matter that much, with how much evidence there is against him, there should be undeniable evidence that he didn't do it.
I am rating this part 4 stars, but I predict that next part will be the best of them, and that we are possibly reaching the five stars focal point of the novel.
