This humorous novel, “Pink Slipper” isn’t as much about pink stilettos as it is about having been fired multiple times. Arriving home on the day that Leesa was pinked slipped from her last job, she found her bungalow aflame with firemen and trucks surrounding it. Bad day for Leesa. She moved in with her father and sister and basically took advantage of them. But her family paid for her to go to a “greatness” seminar (which we all have found boring). In this case, the speaker was a hunk and she couldn’t get him off her mind.

This is a short excerpt from her book: “I’ve had dream sex before. Usually it mortifies me, mostly because of the odd and unattractive men to end up in my dream bed. … Making love to a hot man in my dreams was a totally new … experience. … No worries … It’s practically perfect.”

In an effort to thwart job offers that were below her salary requirements, bonus and company cars benefits, dignity and her engineering abilities, she spends months on unemployment.

I totally enjoyed reading this book and give it 5 stars. It brought smiles and reminders to me of things I’ve done. I think my favorite was the private eye exposing Willie, the insurance guy that wanted to have affair with Leesa. But when his advances were thwarted, he denied her insurance claim for the damage done to her bungalow by the fire.

Leesa Winsom is not having a good life. First she gets pink slipped, then her kitchen goes up in flames during a home renovation, and she's forced to move in with her father and older sister. Her godmother, Alice, talks her into going to a "Breakthrough to Greatness" seminar where she meets Roger and Bud, head of the Job Camp Group {JCG for short}, and Ryne...who invented the BtG seminar and happened to save her at a Starbucks moments before - where Lees happened to say she wasn't buying into the whole "greatness" thing, not knowing who he was. Oops.

Through Roger and Bud she meets Candy, Hank, Jean, Sean, and several others who become dear friends. There's also the Street Guy who makes random appearances and is quite the character. Throughout the book Leesa keeps goals for her Unemployment requirements and applies for numerous jobs.

I loved this book...it was a light, enjoyable read that had a lot of funny moments included. Ms. Robinson definitely knows how to hold a reader's attention and keep them coming back for more. I'd definitely recommend this as a beach read, or sitting on the porch enjoying the peaceful breeze nights when you just want to relax with a good, lighthearted book.

Poor Leesa has been handed her pink slip by none other than her best friend at a job she admitted she could be let go from if needed! That's what she gets for being honest! She's lost the use of her house to fire and has had to move back into her dads home. Just what every single gal wants!
Now she's waits for her unemployment check to come in, the insurance check, her severance check, for the perfect job and the hope a finding the perfect guy! But with her luck nothing seems possible until her family sends her to a self help seminar and she meets Ryne Garrett. Can he help reach "Greatness"?

I am a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella and her Shopaholic books. This was recommended to me. Our heroine is not only having a bad day, she's having a bad year. She looses her job, her house burns down...it's funny, it's sad...sometimes it's maddening. She tries a motivational conference, but really it's her friends that give her the support she needs. If you like Sophia Kinsella books...you'll enjoy this one.

This was a cute read. It was funny and well done. My only complaint would be that the ending was a little too neat and quickly done, but that's par for the course in this genre. I enjoyed it and will most likely read it again.

I've just finished reading this story and it's got a few good sides to it-you will laugh, pity and even get mad at some point but it gets three stars from me because the main character is a woman, an engineer and she isn't afraid of speaking her mind.
