I understand Peter Fitzsimons is quite a well known, hard hitting journalist and has been writing for almost longer than I've been alive but I really dont think biographies are in his wheelhouse. I know that not every person's life reads like a John Grisham novel but this book was really hard to read, and mostly due to the writing style and filler words and commentary throughout. Given I have very little experience myself I still read the thing from cover to cover and being quite young in the 90s found the whole Rugby Professionalism parts quite interesting to read (Probably more what Peter is experienced in writing about) so for me it wasnt all bad.

Great walk down memory lane reliving some memorable matches - pity the Aussies won so many of them!

A good narrative, although quite how the author could name-check Carl Harrison-Ford for "editing the manuscript with minute attention to detail" I'll never know. There were several typos in the text, more than a full rugby team!!!

What a book. Not a chest beating, muscle flexing piece of fluff. I love this book. Well written and interesting, even if you are not into rugby or sport.

Very predictable and bland book about John Eales, World Cup winning captain of Australia. Very unrevealing in content, really just charts the rise and rise of an extraordinary sportsman.
