I just found this book and it is clearly one I will be reading to Finn every night (and nap time?) for a long time. The text is lilting, quiet, sometimes playful. The story is as old as the stars: child goes to bed, sandman sprinkles stardust, together they travel up to the moon to join the man in the moon for a midnight teaparty, flute music, stories, then back to "your own fine bed" to await the sun and morning. Beautifully written and illustrated this book calls to mind, part "Goodnight Moon" part "'Twas the night before Christams" because of its poetic simplicity that guides children peacefully into a sleepy time mood, and its unencumbered yet fanciful strokes of words to tell the story.
