Michel et Steve se rendent à Bordeaux sur la demande de Mr Vaillant père. En effet, un Bull de marque Vaillant vient de sauter sur une mine au milieu d'un chantier d'autoroute. À leur arrivée, Michel et Steve assistent à une seconde explosion. La révolte gronde parmi les ouvriers qui refusent de travailler dans ces conditions. Michel et Steve décident de venir en aide à l'ingénieur responsable du chantier.

This time, Michel Vaillant's adventures don't revolve around racing cars but rather highway construction in the French countryside. The plot involves stubborn farmers and, unexpectedly, a gold treasure. It's just another event in Michel Vaillant's life, and a completely ordinary episode in the album series.
