Text and Audio guide to the sounds of 100 mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, & insects found east of the Great Plains. 8.00 inches tall x 0.25 inches long x 6.00 inches wide
Listened to this during an utterly boring task...it is truly amazing. The sounds of some of the critters were so unexpected! Who knew that porcupines(#11) sound as though they're sobbing when they are distressed? And the frogs! I love the spring peepers! (#59) Elliott also has a night time sounds book. Guess I'll get it; I'm not camping at night with scary sounding porcupines, crying and wailing....
Fantastic reference for the most common animal sounds you'd hear outside during spring and summer. It's a little biased towards the northeast, but because I live there, it's perfect for me. A great beginner guide for people just looking to catch up on sounds or learn more. Sad that it isn't more well known. The only complaint I have is that with how minimal the book it, they could have included small maps of the regions these animals are located in North America (like bird guides do). Otherwise a quick read and listen and good for practice.
