His words are vivid and humorous and his characters are distinct in characteristics, whose works are praised as social fables of Chinese countryside. And the film of the same name adapted from the novel was shortlisted for the main competition of the 34th Moscow International Film Festival. And the German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave the German version of A Cherry on a Pomegranate Tree to Chinese president and asked to have a talk with the author Li Er.
