Savannah Stuart is the pseudonym of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus. Under this name she writes slightly hotter romance than her mainstream books. Her stories still have a touch of intrigue, suspense, or the paranormal and the one thing she always includes is a happy ending. She lives in the South with her very own real life hero. In addition to writing (and reading of course!) she loves traveling with her husband.
O my this is short and hot!I had no idea just how short it was going to be if honest but the author packs an awful lot of intense emotion into it. Yes it's futuristic and it follows the old trope of an alien society needing more females but it's well written and ideal for those times when you just want to simply escape into a book. Saroya lives on the planet Lumineta having been rescued from a dying Earth. She had mated two brothers but this story begins at the funeral of Gage. Gage met her first and offered his protection but it's his brother Linc who really appeals to Saroya. As they both grieve the couple have no idea just how to proceed. Saroya might be attracted to Linc but for Linc she really is the only woman he wants. This couple really need to learn how to communicate! So many mixed messages and misunderstandings put them both through the emotional wringer. Although futuristic it's easy to read and there isn't a lot of sci fi gobbledygook to wade through. No this is a short story about a mixed up couple and a very hot read. My only complaint is I would have preferred it to be a bit longer with more action. Very enjoyable and a great way to spend my afternoon.
This has one of my favorite types of Hero's. He's a warrior, quiet but possessive and protective. What dampened the story for me was he wouldn't pursue the heroine and he was too unsure of himself with her. She had to pretty much knock him upside the head. It's a short read and had hot sex scenes where he finally acted like an Alpha.
I CAN'T EVEN... Wow - the first Katie Reus book I didn't like. The prologue is a total turn-off for me. And there I thought angry-boner-men in romances were a thing of the past.
Heated Mating is the first story in the Lumineta series by Savannah Stuart. It’s a short Erotic Sci-fi Romance. I found it to be heavy on the sex and lacking in substance. The plot is basically based on lack of communication and sex. It’s sci-fi but doesn’t really have a sci-fi feel to it. It takes place on another planet. The hero is a native to that planet but speaks just like someone from earth would speak. The culture is different in that the males greatly outnumber the females, so the custom is for the females to have two mates.
From the beginning this story feels as if we’ve started a book in the middle. The heroine, Saroya has just lost one of her mates Gabe. Her other mate is Linc. Though he is technically mated to Saroya, it has been in name only. He has always kept his distance because he knows he could never share Saroya with another, even his brother. Honestly, had he just communicated how he felt in the beginning this story could have been over in a few pages. It just wasn’t very interesting. The characters never get a chance to have any depth. It’s, lack of communication and sex on repeat until they do communicate enough to be happy, then sex again and the end.
Heated Mating is an okay read. It just wasn’t for me.

If someone's looking for some light, cute and heated read, this is a good one! It gets a 3 star because it's a novella. I read this out of order (read book 3 first), but that wasn't an issue because each book in the series are stand alone ones.
2.75 Stars. I like this book, even though the length of the story did not lend itself to enough character development for this to be a great read. Cute quick story. LOVED that the Hero refused to share his mate even though that was the cultural norm on his planet. He simply said "F**k my culture."
I want to get in line for these yummy, alpha extraterrestrial warriors who are crazy for human females.
He wished they could just be naked in his bed and not worry about words. Talking was overrated anyway.
HEATED MATING by Savannah Stuart is a HOT, futuristic, sci-fi romance featuring aliens who are endowed with especially pleasing abilities. Ooh la la! I have read this series out of order. I first read the third book in this series and enjoyed it so much that I was determined to go back and read the first two books as soon as I got a chance. I'm happy to report that they are just as fantastic. Each of these reads is perfect for a quick read - whether curled up in your easy chair or out-on-the town (as I was) reading on the fly. Just know that you will want a fan capable of a strong breeze nearby when you read any of these books. They're steamy and soooo good!
HEATED MATING is the story of human female Saroya and Lumineta warrior Linc. On Lumineta, since there is a shortage of women, women are mated with two brothers. Linc was enamored of Saroya from the first moment he saw her, but when Gage, his brother, claimed her, Linc could not share. He wanted her only for himself. Even after Gage tragically died, Linc did not feel worthy of her since he was scarred. He did not want to force himself upon her and that's what he'd convinced himself would happen if he tried to court her. It didn't seem that these two individuals could find the way to each other.
Oh my! I love this series! These characters both came across as realistic and genuine and my heart ached for each of them. Their story is passionate and intensely emotional. It's amazing what this author can pack into a short story. I'm not surprised since Savannah Stuart is another name that Katie Reus writes under. Katie is one of my very favorite authors. Will Saroya find a way through the seemingly impregnable walls Linc has erected around his heart? Pick this up and enjoy their journey! AND get ready to fan yourself a lot!
Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this scintillating read:
She tucked her bottom lip between her teeth as she digested his words. "So you do wish for me in your bed?" "No, yes, I..." --- She gritted her teeth. "You can't just... get into my bed like this." A ghost of a smile played across his face. "I already have," he murmured.
Even though this is technically a sci-fi, don't worry that you'll need to plough through a lot of science fiction mumbo gumbo. This is first and foremost an erotic romance... and a darn good one! If you like your romance sizzling, I highly recommend that you pick up HEATED MATING, and fall in love with the author's magnificent, yummy, alpha extraterrestrial warriors who are crazy for human females. I want to get in line!
Summertime temps have nothing on “Heated Mating”, so a pool may be needed to cool you off.
Saroya was rescued from her home planet and mated to Gage before she knew all the rules and customs of his people, but after arriving on Lumineta she soon found herself in love with his brother Linc -- who refuses to share their bed; something that is a common practice on their world because of the lack of women.
When Gage dies Linc promises to take care of her but she soon realizes that there is a reason behind that promise. Action is what counts to a warrior like Linc and “talking is overrated” in his book. When I read that phrase within the pages of the book I felt a kinship to Saroya; I felt her turmoil and understood her determination to get Linc to open up and share his feelings with her.
For such a short story I formed a bond with the characters Saroya and Linc pretty fast, but felt that the plot would have been more enjoyable if I could have read more about their relationship and how they acted before Gage’s death. Had there been a little more detail and a better understanding of what came before, this book would have been a keeper for my library.
I truly loved the characters and became enmeshed in their feelings and personalities. I felt the electricity and stimulation coming off the pages between the two, but I wanted more. The author did an amazing job in bringing the characters to life and the sex scenes where sweet and tender with a lot of feeling between the hero and heroine. The editing was good and the plot was adorable, I just felt like the author cut the unique tale too short.
I would recommend this book for those times when you want something short and hot to read. The story was charming and entertaining.
The blurb was rather enticing and really gives desire to discover Lumineta's universe. This science fiction romance was nice with a reading although foreseeable as a whole. There is nothing original and the potential is not completely exploited. However, I make a point of focussing on the imagination of then auteure with the creation of another world, of another culture.
Saroya is a human woman on an alien planet and in couple with two brothers. Unfortunately, after 6 months of a menage a 3, Gage dies. Saroya which appreciated him but without really loving him, does not know how the things will go thereafter because she is madly in love with the other brother: Linc. The problem is that Linc does not touch her and the human is persuaded that the soldier is not interested in her. What is not true at all since Linc is a possessive man at the extreme, who only thinks of bedding her.
Saroya is a character rather attaching, who knew how to adapt quickly to a new culture while keeping what makes of her human. It is interesting to discover the Lumineta culture from her point of view, to get the bases. But it still have well too much remote zones. Linc in the other side is a virile man, sure of himself (except with Saroya), excellent combatant and who is discovered to have a possessive side. His meeting with the human will upset his universe and will make him evolve. He is at the same time a tender and wild lover.
I always like the writing of Savannah Stuart, the way in which she has to put erotic scenes without that being free. Each scene is thought and has a direction. It is just too bad that the erotism and the romance take the step avec the SF which is not present enough at my taste. The supporting characters are not enormously present, but we guess easily on whom will be the continuation. A pleasant reading which made me have a good time.
This story is sort of an anti-ménage in an erotic romance setting. While Lumineta culture widely accepts and promotes ménage relationships since there is an overabundance of males, Linc won't grasp the concept when it comes to Saroya. A twist of fate brought her into his life, but wouldn't make her his alone until tragedy strikes.
After the death of Linc's brother Gage, misunderstandings of Linc and Saroya's non-existent relationship come to light and they are finally able try to lift the burden of their insecurities. Still there are lingering doubts that Linc can't seem to shake in order to let Saroya in and give himself wholly to her in return. He'll protect her with all the fierceness of a warrior, but can he love her as a mated man.
I found the world around in which the story was built upon to be very appealing. A planet with the majority of the population of the male warrior persuasion is most appealing, but unfortunately the world wasn't developed enough. The story was too short to fully appreciate all the customs of the Luminet people. Although, I will highlight one of the many reasons to want to explore Limineta's culture a bit more... two words... elongated tongues. Needless to say this story packs a very enjoyable erotic punch.
Surprisingly, a trio of secondary characters seemed to have their own unique story needing to be told and if Ms. Stuart were to do a follow-up with them, then I would definitely need to read it.
Readers looking for a quick read set in another world with a possessive alpha warrior, will want to add this story to their reading list.

I am a fan of Katie Reus' Red Stone Security Series, along with its spinoff Serafina Series, and was excited to read one of her "hotter" short stories under the pen name Savannah Stuart. It didn't disappoint. Heated Mating was originally released in 2011, re-released in 2014 and it's follow-up, Claiming Her Warriors, was released in 2013. It takes place on the planet Lumineta in the year 2235, when all men are trained to be warriors and outnumber women 2:1.
Saroya and others were rescued from her dying earthlike planet by a group of Luminet warriors who then took them back to Luminata. Because of the shortage of women there, m/f/m matings are encouraged. Unfamiliar with the customs, Saroya immediately mates with Gage on the way back. She is introduced to his brother, Linc, upon their return, but Linc seems distant and tends to avoid her, so their part of the mating is never consummated. The book actually begins at Gage's funeral, though his death is never explained.
Linc fell immediately for Saroya, but unlike with other women, he knew he couldn't share her, not even with his brother. After Gage's death Linc leaves for the six month mourning period. He intends to claim her upon his return, but his past behavior is perceived by Saroya as rejection. Then everything he does after his return just compounds those perceptions. Because unlike Gage, Linc is 100% warrior, and he doesn't have a clue how to communicate with her. And Saroya has decided she can't continue to live with a man who can't stand to be around her.
"Heated Mating" by Savannah Stuart. The 1st in a connected futuristic novella series. (This is more a short story than a novella)
The story follows Linc and Saroya. In this futuristic story, it is over 200 years in the future and takes place on another planet call Luminetta where males outnumber females 2 to 1. In their society is it normal for every female to be the mate of two males.
Linc has always been in love with Saroya. The only problem is he doesn't want to share her with his brother, as is custom in their society. So even though he is technically mated to her, he's never touched her. He just can't stomach seeing another man touch her. Now his brother has passed away and Saroya is all his...or is she?
Saroya is grieving over the loss of one of her mates. But she never really loved him. She aligned herself with him when she was first brought to Luminetta because he was kind and not intimidating. But then she met his brother, Linc, her other mate, but he's never shown any interest in her. Now that Linc's brother is dead, will she be able to convince Linc that she wants to say with him? Even though he doesn't have any interest in her? Or does he?
It's a really nice story of two people loving each other from "afar" (even though they are in the same house!) and the mixed messages they get from their actions causing all types of mixed emotions from both characters. Very well put together. Great chemisty between Linc and Saroya.
Wow this one didn't work for me really at all. It's all about miscommunication and sex. It's a science fiction book that really didn't feel like it. Yes it's set on another planet and but the only difference is that apparently there is a shortage of females so each female is bonded/married to two men. Unfortunately, we don't find out much more than that about the planet/culture/people and they talk exactly as if they were on Earth.
I felt like I missed an earlier book as the opening scene dropped me right into a situation that I had no background with and left me feeling off. The heroine is at the funeral of one of her mates and is distraught. Her other mate - the brother is also at the funeral but he is mated in name only since he couldn't bring himself to share. Of course he never told anyone this so she thinks he doesn't want her. The rest of the book is pretty much miscommunication, an alpha male acting all insecure and sex. If either one had just spoken up about how they really felt the book would have been about 10 pages long. I also had a very hard time with the heroine stating that she didn't love her other mate part way through the book. Really you were distraught and thinking of throwing yourself into his grave at the funeral? There was little to no character depth just a lot of miscommunication and sex.

Wow! This is a short but sexy passionate read that you won't want to end.
Saroya has been rescued from her planet and brought to Lumineta to live. Right away she mates with two brothers Gage and Linc. Up until the death of Gage she has only ever been intimate with Gage and just assumes that Linc likes men or just plain and simply doesn't like her. After Gage's death Linc still doesn't act like he wants her around so makes a plan to move on out of his house and out of his life for good.
Linc has been in love with Saroya since that minute he laid eyes on her. He just doesn't share. On Lumineta every woman has two mates and Linc can't stand that tradition. So while Saroya was mated to him and his brother he refused to touch her even though he was desperate for her. Now that his brother is dead he refuses to be her last resort and doesn't realize until it is almost to late that Saroya has always loved him.
This is an erotic novella that is full of passion and chemistry with the perfect amount of angst thrown in. I absolutely loved this book and only wish that it would have been even better as a full length novel. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Heated Mating wasn’t as hot that I thought it would be. With a name that Heated Mating you think it would be an erotic story, but it wasn’t.
I really enjoyed it though. I couldn’t imagine being taken off my own planet and taken to another. Everything is just so different then Saroya was used to. She only wanted one mate but thought that she really didn’t have the choice to make her own decision. She really wanted Linc and she had already mated with Gabe his brother.
Linc will not share his mate with anyone. He wants Saroya but she belongs to his brother. Everyone thinks that both brothers are mated to Saroya. Linc decides to stay single. Then his brother dies and Saroya can be his. Only problem is that he doesn’t want to think about Saroya and Gabe together.
I like that even though Linc is in love with Saroya. He still waits for the mourning period to be over before he starts to have a relationship with Saroya. Saroya doesn’t understand what is taking him so long. I enjoyed watching both of their feelings grow for each other.
I adore Katie Reus and her books. From the Redstone Security Series to the Serafina Series, from the paranormal to the contemporary, from Katie Reus to Savannah Stuart, her stories are steeped in passion, danger between the pages, wit and humor adorn her words, and her narration keeps us on the edge of our seats.
Heated Mating is a short novella re-published in 2014 and is set in the year 2235. Rescued by Luminet warriors, Saroya finds herself under the protection of brothers Gage and Linc. A place where the custom of a male taking two mates is a common, Linc defies it and stays away from Saroya.
But with the death of his brother Gage, Linc cannot control his feelings for Saroya yet he keeps to himself. Saroya has always loved Linc and is not sure of her place with him now that Gage is dead.
“Heated Mating” is a purely erotic and passionate romance of two people finally getting to know each other, confessing their feelings for each other and building a future with each other.
Short, sizzling and passionate, it is a perfect and satisfactory read.

I had the pleasure of reading one of Savannah Stuart books titled “Claimed by the Warrior” you can find my review here http://yearwooddailybookreview.com/20.... With this story it found me on a journey of reading another of her story which this review will be based and that title is Heated Mating. Saroya just buried one of her lovers or what the other believed on the Lumineta planet which believe that a female need more than one protector normally a brothers shall be the woman provided and protector but know to the whole planet Saroya and Linc was never lovers even if that was Linc’s only wish. However there was one problem with this Male-Female-Male relationship, Linc doesn’t share even if that person he would be sharing a woman with was his own brother. So when his brother dies, leaving him Saroya only male protector, it was up to Linc to battle the only foe standing between the claiming of the women he love, Himself.
This book like the other I mention above was excellent the chemistry was hot and when they finally came together made this short novella even hotter.
I'm not a big fan of futuristic stuff. As a matter of fact, when I'm picking out something to read and it has something like that in the write-up, I move on. I don't like Star Trek or any of those types of shows (minus Star Wars) but this book wasn't like that. Yes, it had gadgets and transporters, communicators, space travel and stuff like that but it was a love story.
Linc was a warrior and a trainer and lived on this planet called Lumineta. Sayora was a human and was mated to his brother, Gage and since there were two men for every woman, it was common and accepted and even expected that two men would mate with one woman. It seemed that it was usually between brothers. But Linc wouldn't share and Gage had had her first and Linc wouldn't touch her while Gage was in the picture.
But Gage died and that left her with Linc who had lived with her and Gage and with whom everybody had thought she'd already mated. Only she hadn't.
That's when the story really started.
The book was very short, a fast read and really quite good.
There is no start date on this story because I have started and dnf'd it about three times. Finally this last time I pushed my way through in the hopes that some of the things I enjoy in this Authors work would shine through. It didn't. Ok warning rant to follow..... I despise stories that portray women as pathetic, whiny wimps. It took women hundreds of years to get us to the cusp of equality that we sit at now and when I read books like this I wonder how the heck we ever managed it. How can we expect to ever be taken seriously when our own gender thinks this kind of weak willed Nilly Willy, just accept what the big male tells me to do, going to the kitchen to cook him a good dinner because that's where I belong, and shut my mouth keep my head down because I'm nothing but a weak woman, is sexy! I kept hopping Saroya would grow a teeny tiny pair of mouse balls, but nope, she just became more pathetic the further the story went.
The death of Linc’s brother leaves Saroya without a mate, and Linc definitely wants to be her mate. On their planet mates are usually shared between two men, and most think that Linc was already Saroya’s mate, but Linc is different, he doesn’t want to share and wants Saroya for himself.
This is a great story, I loved reading about a culture where because of the overwhelmingly higher amount of men, the culture is to share a mate. Linc and Saroya struggle, they’re obviously very attracted to each other but they have to figure out how to be in a relationship together. Sex is easy, love is hard and this is a great example of that.
Overall, this is a sexy, hot book where the men are very much Alpha warriors and the women can hold their own.
I received an ARC, I was not compensated for my review. This is my honest opinion.
This is Linc and Saroya's story . Saroya was initally with Linc's brother as he was the person who rescued her along with other women from a dying planet. And although Gage and Saroya kept asking Linc into their bed as it was perfectly acceptable for their to be 2 mates Linc refused he does not share.
Something happens that opens the door to Linc mating with Saroya but will he take that chance? Can Saroya give herself only to Linc?
I enjoyed this story as it let me know the beginnings of Linc and Saroya. Super hot romance. I do wish it was longer though. Katie Reus
This book is set on a planet known as Lumineta where it's customary for a woman to have two mates.
When Saroya was rescued from her planet and taken to Lunimeta, she quickly mates lincs brother and supposedly him, but he keeps his distance, that is until his brother dies. He now has to bite the bullet before she moves on....
This is a perfect read for when you've just read a longer book and want to read something quick and enjoyable, it has the right amount of heat for a novella and the fact that Linc doesn't do sharing I thought was very alluring.
Thus book is set in the future but there's no tentacles or weirdness, just a couple hot for each but not communicating well!
A great quick read.

This erotic novella is a quick read but sizzling hot. Even though this is a Quickie, the story was well written and there is enough detail to flesh out the plot. The characters Saroya and Linc make a cute couple. I found the sex between them very titillating. On a side note - it sweet that on a world where there are so few women that a mating consists of a triad, there still men who do not want to share. The secondary characters were they only linger question I had about Heated Mating; what becomes of Brianna and Aeron? Another pleasant read by author Savannah Stuart.
I received this book from JeepDiva in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
This was a hot, sexy short read. Part of me really wished there was more length to it as there were a lot of things I would have loved to have expanded on but all in all it was still very enjoyable.
I loved the heat between the two characters and the build up that happens between them before they give in to their urges. The Author has done a fabulous job at giving you some amazing sexual angst.
I also loved the plot line and the world that has been created. It was fresh and unique and is so well described you can almost picture it.
At the end of the day I read this in one sitting and loved every minute of it. Would love to here more about Saroya and Linc!
