The actress daughter of Ronald and Nancy Reagan presents a surprising, moving, and candidly autobiographical novel about coming of age in public, during the uproar of the sixties and seventies.
My new book, Dear Mom and Dad, is the end of a long journey toward understanding my family. My hope is that readers will be inspired to take a step back and look at their own families through a wider lens. Families are all complicated to some degree, certainly mine was, but in this book I also explore the times when there was just love there. That's part of our story too.
Maybe 3.5 stars? It was an easy read and mostly kept my attention. But I liked her memoir better: "The Way I See It." I look forward to more of her non-fiction. Since we're the same age, her stories are like walking down memory lane. Except that my dad wasn't president.
I quite enjoyed this story. But I did want more character depth. It's set in the late 69s early 70s. I remember those times. But was too young to understand everything completely.
Read this as a kid. Fiction that highlighted Patti Davis honest disagreement from her Dad, Ronald Reagan. Bottom line is that most people complain that you could only take an argument so far with Reagan, which prevented clear thought. 40 years later, it is now obvious that in extreme cases you could get Reagan to listen. Thank you Patti
