Mary Rosenthal is looking forward to her summer vacation. Good books, the beach...life doesn't get any better. But when her aging car blows up she's desperate enough to take part in WLVH's newest contest - live in a truck for a chance to win it. It's not exactly how she planned to spend her vacation, but the scenery - AKA her opponent - is just as nice to look at as the beach would be, but he's tough to read. One minute she thinks he likes her, the next he's standoffish again.
The last thing Ethan Westbrook wants to do is live in a truck, but his father convinces him that it's a great publicity stunt for their family-owned chain of pharmacies. He went into the truck counting down the seconds until he could get out of it, but after a few days with Mary, staying put didn't seem so bad. As a matter of fact, he couldn't think of anywhere he'd rather be.
A guy, a girl, and a truck...things are heating up at WLVH, Love Handles, where love is more than just a song!

Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas...but at heart, they're all stories of love.
I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!
Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!
Very sweet story with likable characters and some creative fun. I was happy to be right when I predicted a love match ending to the contest. Thanks Holly for your always interesting plots and quirky players.
I waited until reading all four books in this series before writing my review. I enjoyed the series, though this first story is was my favorite. Holly Jacobs is a new author to me and I thought all four books were well written. The characters were likable and well fleshed out, and I enjoyed the radio station tying the stories together was a fresh idea, as well as the pickup contest and the comedy club. Unlike a previous reviewer, KimKurt, I found the editing praiseworthy despite Charles being referred to as George (I did not pick up on the team name mix up, if the team is not the Red Sox, they're all the same to me). Book two had a similar name error with Judy being referred to as Mary once. I found these errors minor, comparatively speaking, and they did not detract from my experience. With that said, the editing in books three and four was much sloppier (editor, is that a word?). Overall I liked these quick little reads and the author enough that I will be reading more of her work and there seems to be a lot of it out there for me to enjoy.
I picked this up thinking the premise was really fun, and it was actually, except for two glaring errors in the book, which are huge pet peeves for me (editor?). One is when the heroine refers to the hero’s father by a totally wrong name (and not because she forgot his name, all of a sudden he was George, then the next page he's back to Charles again). I think there was probably a name change and that one was missed. The other, this takes place in Pennsylvania, the hero refers to having season tickets (baseball) to the Braves (not likely), then a chapter later he has season tickets to the Indians (more likely). May not bother others, but they did me and hence my taking away a star. Cute premise though and I wish the book hadn’t wrapped up so quickly.
Although I don't think Mary could be as poor as she seemed as a teacher, I suppose if she's young, that's possible.
Ethan also seems too young to own a pharmacy chain, but their jobs aren't important. I enjoyed the way they got to know each other, and how they became friends, met each other's parent, and still managed to compete for the free truck.
