read up until chapter 19, putting my thoughts for all five volumes here on the first volume okay so what the fuck???? HUH??? for something that was advertised and tagged as horror, psychological thriller, and mystery this really did not deliver imo. i thought it would be more scary??? like i was expecting??? instead we get a girl who admits shes a brocon trying to to surprise her brother enough for him to not turn out to be a murderer like he does in this manga she read in her past life, and he in turn becomes a siscon and yandere after seeing her get into an accident. you'd think that with everything i just listed there would be some tense energy right?? some suspense and horror themes??? NO. this shit is paced like a slice of life romance manga. it's somehow giving seol and jung from cheese in the trap but manages to be less tense and scary and more incestuous since the MC and the ML are STEP SIBLINGS. i kept on reading bcs i was like surely they're gonna ramp up the horror right?? since its a horror/psychological/thriller/mystery manga?? THEY NEVER DID, IT LITERALLY JUST GOT MORE ROMANTICALLY CHARGED BETWEEN THE STEP SIBLINGS. AND EVERYONE IN THE COMMENTS IS ACTING LIKE ITS NORMAL AND ARE CHEERING THEM ONE??? WHAT IS GOING AWNNNN
was gonna give it a 2 but the artist is genuinely very good at expressions and their style is interesting + the comments that normal ppl left at the end of each chapter were so goddamn funny so i bumped it up to a three. ik the author didn't intend it to be a horror aspect since they're clearly end game but i gotta say the scariest part of this is the fact there's step sibling romance in it and everyone seems okay with it??? what

I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M SAYING THIS BUT I ACTUALLY ENJOYED IT ALOT 😭⁉️
like i've been holding back from reading this series bc of the whole step shit but wth i liked it alot. but that's definitely bc i didn't take their relationship as an actual one but rather enjoyed it purely for the psychological horror vibes
Whist i like the manga adaptation better, the novel was still a very nice read. I loved the chapters where we had the point of view of Makoto lol he was unexpectedly romantic somehow ? I also love how Mai went along with him at the end with a "task failed successfully" mindset lol.
I guess being reincarnated means you're no longer afraid of death. A lot of the antics taken by the little sister is dangerous up to the point where the psychotic/yandere older brother finds it concerning.
