About the author

Yuki Suetsugu (末次 由紀 Suetsugu Yuki, born September 8, 1975) is a Japanese manga artist. Her career was put on hiatus after she was discovered of being accountable for plagiarism, including tracing. She later resumed her work on March 2007.

She debuted in 1992 in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine with Taiyō no Romance. Her works later moved to Bessatsu Friend magazine, also published by Kodansha.

On 2009-03-24, her work Chihayafuru was chosen for the Manga Taishō.

This was such a good volume. It focused almost completely on a single karuta match, which hasn't even finished yet, and man, it was intense. The cliffhanger of last episode ended up being about what I expected, which meant the start wasn't great, but the Megumu match is just awesome.

Megumu vs Chihaya: what a lineup. Very exciting and absolutely captivating watching these two (and all the other players) getting absorbed into the powerful atmosphere.

My only issue was that the semi final match didn’t end. Most of the matches contain themselves in their respective volume. But besides that such a good volume. Nishida being upset that Komano might not want to compete anymore was so sweet 🥹 it shows you how important the team tournaments actually are. People from the main team and even opponents and others are growing as the matches go on and I’m loving it. The Komano stuff in the beginning was soooo goood!!

ahhhh mizusawa vs. akashi girls at last !!!
chihayas growth is really evident here, shes taking the cards in ways that she never has before. im truly proud of her. i also think it is goofy how with nearly everyone shes played against recently shes been like "ahh, theyre just like me before harada-sensei showed me the way" LIKE GIRL.
