A good light read that kids would like about Australian convicts.

It is perhaps cliched to develop an interest in history as one grows older. But it's probably important too. I got this to try and read with my son, as he was learning about the first fleet at school, and thought that this book might be fun for both of us. I enjoyed it much more than the stodgy stuff they made me read at school. It was written with fun in mind, trying to make history fun for kids. Perhaps it tries a little too hard at times, but it does present history in a fun, story like way. Even my ageing adult brain remembered some basic facts after I'd finished it- it took 8 months for the first fleet to sail here. That everyone nearly starved to death before the second fleet arrived in 1790. That transportation carried on for 80 years, during which time 160,000 convicts had been transported. Oh and it claims to give the origin of ""you've got Buckley's"". Not heard this before, interesting if it's true.
