3 stars because I loved the cover.

It starts with both main characters not so into each other being slutty around then when they get together, one doesn't even know they are mates and it's highly in the closet then one of the 2nd characters gets too much attention and all revolves around it, and the main characters are so uni dimensional, one of them is a harlequin heroine in disguise, but is so twisted to fill the writer's scheme that is totally unbelievable, and the other one is like so boring and we get to know him so little, is like he doesn't have any personality traits, he's just there to accept everything his "mate" throws at him and to have sex, I was shaking my head most of the time, he claims to be bisexual, but i didn't buy it, the wolf aspect from the novel it's like just there, and we don't get a big picture of it unless the writer use it to get the plot moving on with the bad guy.

Update
Ok, I finally finished reading, there was a lot in the characters I couldn't understand, their way of thinking didn't work for me, at the end everything solved itself without much effort, and it just appear to me as if Dane in a big drama queen way, blowed up everything out of proportion, finally I don't want to give major spoilers, but the way they dealt with the bad guy was incredibly irresponsible.

There was so much unfounded angst in this book that I couldn't wait to finish it. Neither one of the MC's were people who interested me. Dane was whiny and annoying and Jai was two dimensional and flat. The mating bond was unconventional in the fact that Jai knew they were mates and continued to fuck other people because Dane was in the closet and for some unknown reason Dane didn't even realize that they were mates and gets gang banged in the public toilet only to feel cheap and used afterwards with come running down his legs. The only thing I can say that in a positive manner about this book is that the writing itself is good. It did not save this book for me though.

Despite the wonderful cover and an intriguing blurb, this story wasn't much different from all other shifter books. Two mates, one struggling with his sexuality, the other already madly in love, and to make things interesting, add family and a crazy ex.

Influenced by his father's prejudice, Dane is so scared of being recognized as gay, that for years he has been allowing people to sexually use him. It only increased his shame and eventually he left his pack to join another, where he met Jai.

While Jai is aware of Dane being his mate, Dane is so deeply in denial he isn't even able to smell or notice their bond. That eventually changes, especially when he gets the support of his sister who has plenty of problems of her own.

Helping his sibling and struggling through his ‘coming out', Dane is more than happy to have Jai's support, and although he might not show it, he feels just as deeply as his mate.

Essentially, there was nothing wrong with this book. It has a good plot, solid characters and is long enough to make you care. But there was just no spark in it. Dane's conflicts didn't seem convincing and a few times I even considered him childish with his unfounded fear of his father. The man was disapproving but not violent to the point of killing someone and while words do cut deep, I didn't find even that much bite in Gil. Still, Dane kept flinching and trembling as if the world was about to fall down on him.

The bad guy, while fierce enough, was still only human and not particularly bright. How exactly he managed to outsmart a whole pack of wolves is beyond me. But even that would be acceptable if not for the weak attempts to intimidate the man by Jai and Dane. For guys who cared they did a really bad job of it and were, in the end, the reason for the negative development of the situation.

This is not a bad book, but it required a lot of patience on my side and the lack of previously mentioned spark made it pretty much forgettable.

This is part of the same world as Bark At The Moon which is set in England. Dane is deeply in the closet. So deep that he doesn't even recognize that Jai as his mate. Jai is patient and hopes that Dane will eventually trust and confide in him but it doesn't look like that it is going to happen anytime soon.

This was good, maybe a little longer than it needed to be but I think that Dane needed that extra time to appropriately grow and evolve even though I was chomping for a confrontation with Frank. In the end, I really liked who Dane became. I do wish that Jai's character better matched the flamboyant image that we were given at the beginning.

This can be read as a stand-alone. I didn't remember Bark At The Moon until after I started. I would suggest readers start with Bark At The Moon because the information there does enrich this story even if it is not necessary.

Not the best m/m shifter story I've read. There's a harlequin feel to it and everything just felt cliche (i.e. the main characters, the story, and the so called villain). The MC's were hard to connect with and had no appeal to draw in the readers. Their relationship moved way too quickly and at one point it felt like Jai was a stranger trying to lure Dane with candy. Dane just seemed to go with the flow.

The covers is pretty. I can spend all day looking at it, it's too bad I can't say the same about the story.
