This was an excellent overview of Buddhism which I plan to listen to again. The author helps clarify some of the more difficult aspects of their philosophy like conditionality. He does seem to modernize the Buddha's teaching in some ways I'm not so sure are fair to what the original Buddha meant. But overall an engaging read (or rather listen).
I love the first part that described the Buddha's life. He was so amazing. I am shocked there has not been a big budget Hollywood movie made about him. He was so wise, fearless, funny, a true hero and anti-hero at times in every sense.
The rest of the book goes on to explain Buddhism and does so really well.
The first part about the history of the Buddha was very interesting. Much of the rest of the book was a tangle of names and ideas for me, as this was an audio book. I felt that the content of the Dharma and the Sangha could have been presented in a more user friendly way. Or maybe I just need to relieve myself from distractions and become more aware? :)
